About this Cook
Married for 15 years. Our 5 growing and hungry children eat a LOT! So I'm very interested in cooking in ways that satisfy the "Food-5": Healthy, Quick, Easy, Cheap, Variety
My favorite things to cook
I'm whiz-bang at creating something out of nothing. But doing the same thing twice is a rarity.
My cooking tragedies
**In our first year of marriage, I burned the cookbook! Yup...still have it complete with electric stove markings. **Setting a cake on fire in the broiler for my oldest child's first birthday! Marshmallows on top were to be lightly broiled. **Serving a dessert but forgetting to bake the crust to my husband's grandmother, a true pie queen and kitchen expert, she was quietly appalled. **Blunders are fun in retrospect, aren't they ;)

Whole-Wheat Chocolate Chip Cookies
The batter was extremely dry and crumbly. The finished product was equally dry and excessively sweet. I have a similar recipe which uses quite a bit more butter/margarine in ratio to the rest of the ingredients. Sorry but this did not work for me.

Tender Italian Baked Chicken
Very Moist, and flavorful! Mince some fresh garlic into the mayo. Use leftover mayo and bread crumbs to coat frozen broccoli and cook at same time! YUM.

Mom's Zucchini Bread
BEST. ZUCCHINI BREAD. EVER. Make this in just one bowl - Mix Well before each addition: Start with Eggs; Oil, (+applesauce is you are subbing it for oil); Sugar; Vanilla; BP, BS, Salt, Cinn, lastly the Flour, Zuke, and Nuts Halving the Sugar works too! Moist (don't drain zuke) High Crown, lovely sweet loaves. TRY THIS! Crumb Topping - YES! Use the one mentioned in reviews, adding 15 min. into baking as recommended. ENJOY!
