Coney Island Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2008
It wasn't what I was looking for. We must have our own version in south eastern Massachusetts on the shore, though it was referred to as Coney Island Sauce, it didn't taste like this - and though I tried and tried - I couldn't get the taste right..I just can't figure it out. The flavor was "ok", nothing I plan on making again. Sorry...I am sure it's the perfect recipe to some others...just not mine :(

Chili Cheese Dip I

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2008
Wow, this was fantastic! Very simple - almost too simple! I had no idea cream cheese was the "magic" ingredient in chili/cheese sauce!

Slow Cooker Pork Chops II

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2008
Was delicious! I added an equal amount of onion powder as was called for the garlic powder. I did saute the garlic prior in olive oil which was suggested by an another reviewer. In addition, I used extra chicken brother as was suggested. I served this over white rice and it was a great hit!

Cola Pork Chops

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2008
I usually question or avoid the recipes that seem too simplistic, but was curious with the whole "cola" thing...I am glad I tried this! It was great! I used COKE ZERO and it was fantastic! Was a dinner hit! I will be using this recipe again! :)

Harvest Beef Stew

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2007
This was a great creation, but it did need modifications for my taste. First, I used a pot since I feel that stews need to sit and cook slowly for optimal flavor and tenderness. Second, since I am not a beer drinker, I used about 1 and a half bottles, and not the entire 2. To go with the theme of the season, I used Samuel Adams October-fest Ale. Second, there was something missing from flavor, so to jazz it up a bit I added a few beef bullion packets and a 1/2 of cup of Worcestershire sauce - that perfected it for me for flavor. Finally, I agree with most of the other posters that it was not thick enough and too soupy so I did thicken it with some cornstarch - that was it! I will make this again, but with the additional modifications I did. :)

I used sun-dried-tomato Alfredo sauce and it came out pretty good. I was actually surprised. Will make again.

Slow Cooker Beef Stew IV

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2006
We all agreed - blah. No taste. Needed more spices, Worcestershire sauce, something. Not the stew recipe I hoped it would be. Back to the lists....

Sour Cream Pork Chops

Needed more flavor - I tossed in a few more chicken bullions, extra sour cream, and also some peas. I served it over white rice.

Double Layer Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2006
Excellent! Very tasty, not too filling! The only change I made was I used a NILLA pie crust because we are not big graham cracker crust fans - and we personally thought it was absolutely fantastic!

It was good....nothing outstanding. I have had better Garlic Mashed recipes from this board. This one was average...nothing to rave about.

Sirloin Steak with Garlic Butter

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2006
Was NOT impressed! I wonder what restaurants some of the others have eaten at to say that this recipe is "as great as" because it was nothing but buttery steak and garlic....? No where near enough flavor for me. Was toooo boring.

Cordon Bleu Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2006
Not bad. I am not a fan of swiss cheese, so I used cheddar. Next time, instead of bread crumbs I am going to used crushed Ritz crackers. The bread crumb topping reminded me too much of a Shake-N-Bake disaster.... :: shudder ::. But, all in all, it wasn't bad for the left-over turkey day meats.

Bananas Foster Pudding

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2006
OUTSTANDING! As suggested, I made the sauce with brown sugar, butter and I added an additional 1/2 cup of the banana liquer - pour over a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top of this Banana Fosters Pudding (which had the consistency of bread pudding) and the family was in heaven. It ALL went!
