Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2014
So, my 3 year old ate my Dad's Angel Food Cake, and I needed a replacement FAST! I chose to make a batch of Snicker-doodles to try and smooth over the pain of a lost Angel Food. Instead of using my Mum's tried and true recipe (I didn't want to hunt it down), I used the best rated one on here. My cookies have been in the oven for 15 minutes and are still smooshie sponges! I have no idea what I did wrong, as I am a seasoned cookie baker. :/ Hm. Lesson learned: 1.)Put the cake higher up next time. 2.)Use the recipe you KNOW works best.

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2013
I use this recipe all the time!! I am NOT a chocolate fan, but I do like to enjoy this brownie once in awhile. :) It's good with, or without the frosting. I take these with us on long car trips as snacks for the kids (and the hubby!), as they REALLY like them! *I made no changes to the recipe

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2012
I'm not much for chocolate chip cookies, but my husband is a fanatic. I can't comment on the taste, only the consistency. The cookies seemed tough after baking. I have a gas oven so I cooked them for 13 minutes instead of the full 15-17. They came out of the oven chewy, but when they cooled on the rack they became hard almost instantly. I'm sure Hubby wont mind too much, but I DO know that he likes a chewier cookie. :/ Hm.

Cheddar Biscuits

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2012
Easy, quick, and tasty! I just wanted cheesy bisquits, and not garlic and cheese, so I omitted the garlic. It was great! I will say, if you have a gas oven like I do, you really need to monitor the color of the biscuits to make sure you don't overcook them!

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2012
I love making my own bread, and this recipe is a keeper! I have tried TONS of other ecipes, and none of the others have risen, puffed, and tasted like this bread! Definately a keep! I made a loaf of breaf and then the other half was used to make rolls. Both turned out equally well! For a soft crust on your bread, when it comes out of the oven: rub a stick of butter on the top. Yum!

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2012
I made a batch of sugar cookies and they turned out a little on the bland side, so I decided to makes some frosting. I opted against buttercream (my usual choice) and made this frosting! AH! It was great! The cookies don't need much because this icing is REALLY sweet! They just need a light coating for flavor. I didn't have almond extract so I used vanilla, and it turned out great!

Super Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2012
This recipe was easy to make, and took no time at all once I got going. Some of my cookies were crumbly, and they smelled like they were burning only 5 minutes after cooking. I put mine in the oven for only 9 minutes and they were done. However, I think it's fair to mention that I have a gas oven and cooking times did vary between 8-10 minutes per batch. Other than that, these cookies were pretty good tasting, and they will be even better once I get the frosting on them :)

Croissants

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2012
I'm a decent bread maker so I thought I would try my hand at croissants! nI never knew they took so long to bake! After reading this recipe, I think it is better suited for those who have baked bread successfully in the past. Having said that, I think that there were no holes in the recipe, and mysants turned out well. I DID have to add almost a CUP more flour than the recipe called for, as the dough was just WAY too wet to do anything with. I think next time I'll experiment with another recipe, but this one was very decent. :)
