My husband and I
About this Cook
I've been cooking since I could reach the stove. I love trying new dishes and experimenting with old ones. My fiance complains that he gains weight because I don't cook anything he wont eat.
My favorite things to cook
My two favorite things to cook are fish dishes and soups. Fish is so versatile and there are so many different types of fish that produce different tastes and textures. And soups just have that comfort factor.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Before my grandfather passed away, we used to drive out to the country on Thanksgiving and all my relatives that lived close by would bring over dishes of traditional southern foods and we'd have a huge Potluck.
My cooking triumphs
My fiance claims my homemade spaghetti sauce is what convinced him to propose to me. :-)
My cooking tragedies
When I was younger, I used to make leftover soup. I was still new to spices and such and there were a couple of times that I made such a mess out of the soup that we had to dump the whole thing out.

D's Famous Salsa
I have made this so many times. There's just no way to screw it up!!! I sometimes switch green chilies for jalapenos or use cans of Fire roasted tomatoes but it is always top notch!

Winter Blossom's Often Requested Ham Salad
Wow. I had never tried ham salad before. It always sounded like something my very southern grandmother used to make (mashed vienna sausage sandwiches anyone?) But I made a glazed ham the other night and needed something different to try with the leftovers. I'm eating this right now and it's just glorious. I didn't have any relish so I threw in pickle slices in my processor after chopping the ham and it worked out just great. Excellent recipe!
