Tender Pan-Fried Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: May 17, 2014
I made the recipe the way it was written and my way..both times it turned out moist, deliscious and no leftovers. I prefer less salt and pepper, but the beauty of this recipe is that you can use any spice combination you prefer..as long as you stick with the coating basics and elevate the chicken during baking. I always use buttermilk for coating. Great Recipe!

My Amish Friend's Caramel Corn

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2013
I have tried other recipes on this site, but this one is the best! I followed the recipe to the T and everyone loved the taste!!(I couldn't keep my hands off the treat while it was cooling, lol) I have made it with or without nuts, either way it never lasts long, I made a batch just yesterday to give away as Christmas gifts. Here's a tip, if you don't have waxed paper, seeing as to how I grew up with my thrifty Grandmother, I always keep large brown grocery sacks, unused ones, on hand..just cut it apart, spread it out, take a cold stick of butter and rub it across the paper, works very well. I always use a large aluminum roasting pan or pasta pan. Great Recipe, thanks for sharing, this one will be a keeper in my Family!

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2013
This is my absolute favorite recipe for pancakes!! No shortcuts, no changes, except adding a little vanilla flavoring, or tossing in a few blueberries for my husband. I usually make enough to freeze some leftovers for my sprout, who loves this pancake and she is picky! I grew up watching my grandmother cook and bake..she has always sat her Eggs, Milk & Butter out to reach room temperature..unless a recipe specifically called for cold butter, etc..also, she let the batter sit for a short while and she never ever overmixed pancake batter. Great Recipe and thank you for sharing, if I could give you more stars, I would!

Baked Denver Omelet

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2013
We L.O.V.E. this recipe and its one, that we make at least once a week, I love it just the way it is written, but we have made it with different ingredients..basically what we had on hand and no matter what, it is delish!! I always add a little dill and we prefer it with swiss cheese, it takes the recipe to a whole new level for my family! Thanks for sharing!! This is a family favorite for us.

Beef Enchiladas II

Reviewed: May 2, 2013
I love this recipe, its no fuss, simple and leaves room to stretch your culinary imagination..as for the comment on making Enchiladas with flour tortillas as opposed to corn tortillas..they aren't available to buy at many places and a lot of folks simply don't like the taste!! You gotta have an open mind when it comes to cooking, lol..a lot of the recipes that been given to me by my german grandmother have been modified, simply because of the availability of some of the ingredients..that made some of them even better, than the way she made them.

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2013
First of, let me say to the person that said Southerners don't like Vinegar based sauce..Wrong, lol..we love our Cider Vinegar, especially paired with pulled pork!! I have made this recipe about 10 times and have used a 5 pound Pork Butt and 2 bottles of root beer..you need some of the fat, to make good pulled pork..I have used dark ale & a&w root beer, it comes out better with root beer, but that is just my preference. I have been using a recipe for BBQ Sauce given to me by a friend to simmer the pork in after you shredd it and it is delish!! I have to rate this recipe 5 Stars..simplicity is best!!

Smooth Sweet Tea

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2013
Although I have always made a good tea, I gave this a try and switched brands as well. Lipton has always been a go-to for me, but I went and bought Luzianne before making this recipe. The result was unbelievably astonishing and thats not a lie! This is the kind of Southern House Wine you want to put in a fancy glass pitcher and serve the right way! Thanks a bunch for sharing! Makes living up north just a tad sweeter, lol.

Easy Meatloaf

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2013
I did try this and just as it smelled while cooking, it turned out marvelous! I used 1/2 cup of mushrooms, 1/2 cup of green peppers and a large onion, all finely diced and fried them in butter before adding them to the meat. I lined the meat with bacon before putting it in the oven, I had to cover it during the last 15 minutes of baking, as to avoid overbrowning of the bacon, aluminum foil does that nicely! I read many complaints on here as to the baking times and how people reduce stars due to that fact..I have recently purchased a new oven and I find that many things I have baked or even cooked previously require longer or shorter cooking times due to the new oven..not all ovens cook the same, you have to play with it a little sometimes. Love this meatloaf Recipe and so does my Family!

Cathy's Banana Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2013
I have tried many variations of Banana Bread, but never had an addition of sour cream..it was incredible..the flavor was intense and the texture perfect, very moist!! The only things I changed to my personal preference is use real unsalted butter and cut the sugar back to 1 cup, which is plenty..also like someone else mentioned, I sprinkle cinnamon sugar in the pan before baking and it gives it a little something extra! I baked this Bread in a 13x9x2, it baked up very nice! 5 Stars!

Goulash Supreme

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2013
I had looked around for something quick to cook, to get rid of some things in my fridge and food cabinet, this was a good basis, but somehow the recipe got away from me, lol..mainly due to what I had..it turned out rather tasty. I had 1/2 a box of Penne Rigate and I boiled them while browning my ground beef, along with the onions, garlic and 1/3 cup of sliced green pepper. I added the paprika, but used a packet of Chili Seasoning Mix anstead of Chili Powder, also and this is a must in my family, I added 1-2 TBSP of brown sugar and a can of red beans..I let that simmer for a while, to let the flavors combine, then I added the Penne and just simmered it long enough to get a good consistency. Even my picky 4 year old ate it. We had some Italian Bread on the side and I like a dollop of Sour Cream with mine, try it! As an add on, I didn't use the Tomato Paste, I didn't see any need for it.

Fried Rice Restaurant Style

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2013
I knew when I saw this recipe, we had to make it! We moved to a rural setting from city live and we miss our fav Chinese Restaurant. The recipe in itself is great, but like other posters, I added Sesame Oil, it does make the taste more authentic. I also added leftover bits of cooked chicken and 2 sausage brats, that I took out of their skins and fried them like hamburger, it was deliscious!! 5 Stars all the way!!

Creamy Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2013
This is almost similar to the recipe my grandmother used to make, great texture and taste!! I like soaking my raisins in Amaretto and also add a little Almond flavoring, it just kicks it up a notch and just personal preference. I love this recipe due to its versatility..it can be made to fit everyone's taste. Growing up, my granny always whirled an egg yolk in to the milk and preheated it prior to adding in the last 2 minutes and you have to stir it quickly the entire time! This is a wonderful recipe, thank you!

Bacon Wrapped Bratwurst

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2013
This is a great recipe..I have made something similar, but I only use 1 bottle of beer, which is plenty and I cook the brats 10 minutes on each side and they are done..I buy pre-cooked bacon, it works great with brats and shrimp!
