I love to recreate the comfort foods and desserts of my childhood. My teachers were my grandmothers, who made the best fruit pies, cinnamon rolls, and sugar cookies, and my mother who inspired me with her ability to put delicious food on the table three times a day.
I was a caterer for 5 years but now volunteer my services for Wednesday night church dinners. I blog about quilting and recipes at www.theroadtooklahoma.com
My favorite things to cook
My favorite things to cook are breads and desserts. I've had great success with recipes from this site, such as Brown Sugar Meatloaf, Blue Cranberry Sauce, Pear Honey Cranberry Sauce, Best Brownies, and Jalapeno Popper Spread.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Fall and winter holiday seasons are my favorite times of the year. Anything involving pumpkin and cinnamon has my attention, and my personal Christmas traditions are Granny's sugar cookies and gooseberry pie, as well as Danish Kringles from a recipe given to me by my junior high home economics teacher.
My cooking triumphs
My greatest compliment is watching people react favorably to the food I have prepared, and especially when my husband says "wow, this is great!"
My cooking tragedies
One Thanksgiving when I was sick (that was my excuse), I forgot to put sugar in the pumpkin pie! My DH put whipped cream on it and ate it anyway.
