Irish Soda Bread in a Skillet

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2013
We all loved it. I make homemade yeast bread a couple times a week, always changing the variety. We had never had Irish Soda bread before, so I found it to be a cross between a yeast bread and a biscuit. I made a big pot of spicy chili for dinner and forgot that we were out of bread. I searched for a recipe that I could make in under an hour and found this quick and easy Irish Soda bread. It was quite flavorless on its own, which is good as everyone in the house likes to put something different on as a topping (peanut butter, fruit preserves, butter, honey, etc.). My husband requested it again in the morning for breakfast ... and because it's so quick and easy, it was no problem. Thanks for a great recipe! I will definitely be making this often! I think I will also experiment with spices and sweeteners for something different. We love it!

Wazzu Tailgate Chili

Wow! Fabulous chili! We all love chili when it's cold outside ... And this recipe was a hit with the entire family. I have made it numerous times now. It is also very forgiving so if you don't have (or like) something that is called for, just substitute something you do like! I am whipping up a batch right now. I always make a sweet corn bread to accompany this and the sweet and spicy are fabulous complements. Thanks for a winner!

Chocolate Lovers' Favorite Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2013
My, oh my, oh my! This is fantastic! I made it just as written except baked it in an angel food pan. I topped it with the ganache recipe from this website. I added Amaretto to the ganache instead of rum. I also heated some frozen raspberries and added just a touch of sugar (enough to allow them to keep their tartness). I sprinkled powdered sugar on the slice of cake and served it with a spoonful of the raspberries on the side. Heaven on earth! I had tried (twice) a different "too much chocolate" cake recipe on this site and my entire family felt it was too heavy and not very flavorful. This one is smooth and delicious. Wow! Thank you, Susan, for a spectacular dessert recipe. This is definitely one to prepare when you are trying to impress!

Fabulous. My family members are not big cranberry lovers, but they loved this. Very tasty. Easy to alter to whatever ingredients you have on hand.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough + Cupcake = The BEST Cupcake. Ever.

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2014
Oh. My. Goodness! These cupcakes are fabulous. My 16 yr old daughter even talked about them to her friends at school. We had three of the guys in her class over to help with yard work and when the cupcakes came out, they said, "We heard about these!", and proceeded to eat the remaining 15 cupcakes over the course of the afternoon. The cupcakes are now everyone's favorites! Thank you for a winner, lovestohost! The only change I will make for future batches is to make egg-less cookie dough so they won't have to be refrigerated.

Raspberry and Almond Shortbread Thumbprints

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2014
Fabulous cookies! I made them for the first time when I was hosting Christmas at my house. I made 7 different kinds of cookies and these were by far the most popular! I followed the recipe exactly except added 1/2 vanilla and 1/2 almond flavoring to the glaze. Wonderful! Today I am going to make them with lime juice in the dough and lime curd in place of the preserves.

Unbelievable Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2014
Made this marinade as written. Delicious. I made a quadruple batch and marinaded 6 chicken breasts (cut into bite-sized pieces) for almost 24 hours in approx 1/4 of the marinade (equivalent to this recipe, as written) and approx a dozen large shrimp for 15 min. Refrigerated the reserved 3/4 of the marinade. The next night we grilled the chicken, shrimp, and added pineapple chunks, onions, and red peppers. Served with rice. Heated the reserved half of the marinade and served individually for each person to use as dip or to pour over meat, veggies and rice. Everyone loved it! Definitely 5 stars. Will make again and again!

Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Made this with Mexican Casserole (from allrecipes.com) and a sweet corn bread. Whole family said it was the best meal ever. For fruit, I added a mango and nectarine and I used current jelly for a little extra tang. Excellent!!!

Made this in the slow cooker to serve with thick-cut pork chops on the grill. Wonderful. Very mellow, comforting dish. Easy and delicious. I made it exactly as written but omitted the nuts (kids won't eat them). Loved it! Thank you for a wonderful recipe that I will make often.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2013
Wow. This is wonderful! Let me start by saying that my youngest daughter is the only one in the family who likes pumpkin, and has been begging me to make pumpkin bread. I finally broke down and searched for a recipe. Wow! This was wonderful! We all LOVED it. I have made it 4 times in the past 3 weeks. It's easy, smells heavenly, and is so good. So good. Thanks for the wonderful recipe. I still can't believe we're all eating pumpkin!

Chicken, Avocado and Mango Salad

This salad was fabulous. We could have made half the dressing as we only drizzled a couple tablespoons on each person's salad and that was perfect! Loved the flavor combinations! My daughter asked for it again yesterday and today. A keeper!

What a great idea! I liked this better than egg salad with mayo. Each time I make it I use what I have on hand. What a tasty, versatile recipe this is! Thanks so much for sharing it, K-Dub!
