Chai Tea Mix

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2012
A fantastic way to make a bulk amount for gifts and the winter season. The flavor is good, but I haven't gotten the texture quite right...generally get "floaties" film on the top. Mixing it with a commercial cocoa helps.

This is a delicious, sweet-savory alternative to traditional corned beef.

Citrus-Ginger Tuna Steaks

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2011
I used rice wine vinegar, which worked fine. I wish the ginger had come through stronger, but the fish was very moist.

Washington Apple Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2010
Almost perfect! Washington Apple Cake is my husband's FAVORITE, but I lost my recipe in summer flooding. This version seemed a little thicker in batter and didn't spread as well...I ended up making 1 1/2 batches to cover the 9X13. Otherwise, I'd very happy to have found this!

Apple Glazed Ham

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2010
I made this with a Cook's Ham Steak and fresh apples. I liked how the ham glazed, but I'd agree that the BBQ sauce was a little odd with the apples. I'll probably make this again, but I'll try the maple syrup route.

Pesto Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2010
Great idea and sooooo simple! I also used bacon instead of the prosciutto, and it was in the oven for about 35 minutes, but everyone loved it.

Lemongrass Ground Beef Skewers

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2010
Like one of the other reviews, I added fresh ginger and used soy sauce instead of salt. I also didn't have oyster sauce, so used black been sauce instead. Flavor was pretty good, but trying to GRILL these was ridiculous! I ended up scraping most of it off the grill onto a cookie sheet and broiling them. I might play with the recipe since it was a different taste for ground beef, but I won't be FOLLOWING this one again.

Lemony Turkey Breast

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2010
maybe I overcooked it, but the turkey and gravy were very bitter tasting. I was able to use the turkey, but threw out the gravy and made a packet.

Cranberry Sauce Chicken II

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2010
I've now made this dish several times with minor variations. Instead of cranberry sauce, I've used strawberry preserves OR orange marmalade, both of which came out well. It also works well for a crock pot dish!

I made this with turkey instead of the cornish hens. Came out wonderfully and was a big hit with company!

Eggplant Parmesan II

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2008
AWESOME FANTASTIC FLAVOR...but the eggplant itself came out really soggy and a huge disappointment. I tried sweating the eggplant for an hour, then dipped and baked it for about 10 minutes before adding the sauce, baking for 5 minutes to warm through. I guess I'm still on the hunt for the perfect recipe.

Rhubarb and Strawberry Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2008
I used a store-bought crust and the lattice top rather than a solid crust. I also boiled the rhubarb for about 5 minutes because they were early spring stalks and a little tough. Otherwise, I followed the recipe exactly, let it sit overnight, and it was FANTASTIC! Definitely saving this recipe for the future!

Double Layer Pumpkin Cheesecake

LOVED the taste, but it didn't set up completely in the 40 minutes of bake time. I might try again and bake it a little longer.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2007
Pretty disappointing...even after using some of the other reviewers' suggestions, we found this recipe to be pretty bland. It is easy and if you have picky eaters, it would probably be a good one for your family.
