About this Cook
I enjoy cooking. I love to try new dishes and always enjoy putting a new twist on an old favorite and making recipes healthier.
My favorite things to cook
My Italian ancestry and living with two great cooks, my mother and grandmother, has given me a knowledge of Italian cooking. Many of the recipes I grew up with have been modified to lower fat versions.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I enjoy cooking for the holidays and making the traditional recipes that I grew up with.
My cooking triumphs
Cooking has brought my daughter and I closer together. We work together to prepare both simple meals and traditional holiday feasts and to make gourmet chocolates.
My cooking tragedies
My worse tragedy happened when friends stopped in as I was heating up oil for Chinese egg rolls. While I was chatting with my guests, the smoke alarm went off and the flames in my pan were about a foot high.

Chicken Costa Brava
This is my family's favorite recipe. I make it very often. I don't add anything or leave out anything. I make it exactly as it reads. I will confess to putting a bottle of hot sauce on the table -- but not everyone will use it.

No Knead Beer Bread
I had my doubts, but it came out of the oven looking exactly like the loaf of bread in the video. What a great recipe. It does take a few hours with the rising and baking, but is very simple and the directions are easy to follow. If you do plan to make it, watch the video.

Creamy Asparagus and Cauliflower Soup
We had this soup with Chef John's Beer Batter Bread. It would be very good as a first course, but is not hearty enough for a meal. It was easy and tasty. We didn't have nasturtium -- but otherwise I followed the recipe as written.
