About this Cook
I'm a teenager in Southern Alabama who used to live in North Dakota. Needless to say, I have lived in two completely different cultures when it comes to food...and pretty much everything else!! I love cooking and baking, it relaxes me, but I don't like other people in the kitchen with me. Only on rare occasions when I am trying something they have down pat do I let my family help me.
My favorite things to cook
I absolutely love baking!!! Breads, cakes, cookies, you name it, I bake it. I also really like trying new ingredients and meals.
My cooking triumphs
I don't have one outstanding meal or dish that I have made, but I can make anything from cookies to tacos so I feel pretty good about that.
My cooking tragedies
I helped my uncle make the Thanksgiving meal a few years ago. One of my first experiences cooking without my mom. We completely forgot the stuffing. From now on, we let mom make Thanksgiving. Oh and one time i microwaved a cookie for a minute. Yeah, not my finest moment.

Soft and Chewy Peanut Butter Cookies
Followed the recipe, only change i made was adding some semi-sweet chocolate chips. Used a 1 and 1/2 in. cookie scoop and got 6 dozen cookies. Other than that, these turned out great! Little on the sweet side but that is totally personal opinion. Next time I will probably cut out the 1/4c. of both sugars.

Easy Cajun Jambalaya
This was a 4 or 4 1/2 star recipe. I follow the directions exactly, and while it was finishing cooking I realized, "This doesn't have any color." Having never made jambalaya before I didn't realize that it is supposed to have tomato something in it. Well, I added a 6oz. can of tomato paste, and tinkered around with the spices (personal preference) and it was AMAZING!! Adding that can of tomato paste brought it up to a 5 star recipe.

Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies
I followed other reviewers suggestions and added 1/4c. flour 1/2 tsp baking soda and used only 1/2 tsp salt. I also omitted the nuts. They turned out amazing!!! At twelve minutes they don't look fully cooked but resist the urge to let them go a few more minutes. Take them out and let them sit on the cookie sheet for a couple of minutes. They finish cooking and are soo good. Lightly crispy around the edges and chewy, soft on the inside, they were exactly what I was looking for!
