Ex 20 year professional cook. Came to hate it, changed professions 20 years ago and tried to avoid cooking whenever possible. Who wants to spend all day on the job, then come home and spend 2-3 hours cooking for 15 minutes eating? Now have more time and trying to re-engage and learn new things, enjoy new foods / recipes.
My favorite things to cook
Learning vegetarian. It's healthier, cheaper, and the American meat industry is just revolting. Have yet to find anything that compares to a great steak.
My favorite family cooking traditions
HA. Not what I'm doing now.
My cooking triumphs
Fresh salmon, scallop mousse and avocado sauce en croute, served at my brother's wedding.
My cooking tragedies
In extreme haste, threw out the turkey stock once, thinking it a pot of dirty water. Realized what I had done about 0.8 seconds later. Pretty much un-consolable.
