Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2015
I have made this chicken pot pie numerous times now. I leave out the celery only because no one in my family likes it (including me), otherwise I make it as called and it never disappoints (unless of course I burn the crust).

Slow Cooker Chile Verde

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2015
I have been looking for a good green chile recipe like what I would find in the Mexican restaurants back when I lived in AZ. While I don't think this is it, I will say I was pleasantly surprised with the flavor it had. It was very easy to throw together and the taste was pretty good. I would likely make this again.

Salsa Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2015
I am always looking for new low carb recipes and I find I'm quite disappointed with most. I made it exactly as is and found it to be a pretty good low carb option. It is so quick and easy to make especially if you are running around with kids all day and then are scrambling for something to cook at the end of the day. My kids won't eat it but that's okay, they are extremely picky and I didn't expect them to from the get-go but it is definitely something I would make again.

Potato Soup V

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2013
This potato soup was very good!! My husband was sick so I was looking for a soup to make for him with the stuff I had on hand. I didn't use any celery since we hate celery (but did keep the celery salt) and I didn't have any half and half so I only used milk. I added a handful of cheese to my roux and this soup was very tasty. I'm very glad I found this as I will absolutely make it the same way over and over anytime our family gets sick.

Better Cheddar Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2009
My husband and I think these are great. I did make one change however as I didn't have any corn flakes, so I crumbled up Ritz Crackers in place of the corn flakes and it came out so yummy. The bottom of the chicken (even though I flipped it half way through) was a little mushy but the top stayed crunchy. I have made these a few times since first trying this. I may one day try it with the corn flakes, but I was so happy with the Ritz that I may not. Thanks for the recipe!!!

Jenny's Grilled Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2009
This was an overall good recipe if you like a strong lemon flavor. I did soak it in the lemon juice for about 15 minutes and it was just a little too strong of a lemom taste for me and my husband didn't really care for it at all. Thanks for the recipe anyway.

Taco Pizza

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2009
I thought this was very tasty, the only difference is I used a store bought pizza dough, but made the remaining recipe to the letter. If I make this again, I will definitely either add chopped jalapeno's or fresh roasted green chiles to the meat and cut way down on the sauce. While the sauce was tasty since I used the Hot Taco Seasoning, it was just a little overwhelming on the pizza. I tasted more sauce than meat or beans and would prefer a good balance of all three. Thanks for the recipe.

Cola Pork Chops

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2009
This was a good sweet sauce. I used Dr. Pepper since that was all I had and I'm not sure if the soda type matters, but the sauce was covered all over the cooked pork chop, yet it was difficult to taste unless I rolled it in the drippings. I will definitely try this again, but I will inject some of the sauce into the pork chop before cooking next time.

Down Home Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2009
This is a great basic macaroni recipe and very easy to spice up or alter when you are wanting a change. I'm not a big fan of bread crumbs on my mac and cheese, so I substitute the bread crumbs for extra cheese. I bake it long enough for the cheese to get melted, bubbly and crispy.

Cajun Style Burgers

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2009
The burgers were tasty, but I thought they tasted more like a meatloaf patty than a burger. The only substitution I made was use regular onions instead of green onions. I thought the BBQ sauce with the cajun seasoning was excellent and will spice up my BBQ sauce all the time now.

Oven Fried Chicken III

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2008
I tried this except I always use skinless chicken breasts and I decided to pan fry instead of baked. I guess I'm not a big fan of Thyme as I wasn't too crazy about this the first time I made it. The second time, I eliminated the Thyme, added a some Cayenne and used Miracle Whip instead of Mayonnaise. The second batch was way tastier.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2007
This definitely came out a soft cookie, but it just isn't what I prefer in a chocolate chip cookie. I really love soft chewy cookies and this tasted way too cakey for me. It didn't have a bad taste, just not my preference.

Cheesy Potato Soup II

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2006
This was very good, although I did alter the recipe a bit to our tastes. I cut out the celery since my husband hates it. I used half water / half chicken stock and sharp cheddar cheese instead of American cheese. We topped it off with bacon crumbles and a dollop of sour cream to make baked potato soup. Will definitely make again.

Very good basic mashed potatoes. So basic you don't even need the recipe.

Mine stuck to the bottom of the pan. They were good, but not as good as my Aunt makes.

Cream Cheese Frosting II

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2006
Very nice tasty frosting. Although a little heavy on the cream cheese, I may cut it down a tad next time, but will definitely use again.

Whipped Cream Cream Cheese Frosting

I made this with half sugar/half confectioners' sugar. This was a good frosting but it didn't "Wow" me. I will most likely make it again.

Red Velvet Cake I

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2006
I thought this was an okay version of what I look for in a red velvet cake, but I definitely wouldn't call it great. I didn't alter the recipe too much, except I added more cocoa and used less food coloring and the cake still came out bright red. I found the end product a bit too dry and it had too much of a floury taste. I used exactly as the recipe called for, no more. I know these cakes usually have this kind of taste, but this was way too overpowering. I had to overcompensate on the frosting to not notice the flour. I also didn't use the frosting because I prefer a cream cheese frosting. Overall, I say it's average, but I will definitely try it again with the suggestions from other reviewers.

Buttermilk Pancakes II

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2005
My pancakes didn't come out light or fluffy, they were actually a bit dense or cake like. Overall, not a bad recipe, but I'll keep looking for a pancake as good as Cracker Barrel's.

Ground Beef Shepherd's Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2005
I made this recipe a few nights ago only changing a few things. I added some El Pato sauce to flavor up the meat, I left out the green beans, added a can of corn (drained), added a handful of thinly sliced carrots, used a can of petite diced tomatoes instead of fresh tomatoes. I made the mashed potatoes as normal, using both butter and milk and then added an egg and cheddar cheese. I noticed the mashed potatoes didn't even begin to brown in the stated time, so I changed to oven setting to broil and it browned the potatoes and cheese to a light crunchy topping. This recipe is definitely a winner as we loved it.
