About this Cook
I am a working wife & grandmother of 5. Love cooking, entertaining & most of all CHRISTMAS. As soon as Halloween is over I start planning for the upcoming holidays. My decorating starts almost immediately & cooking doesn't really stop til January 2.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite things to cook would probably be desserts of all kinds. My 12 yr old grandson (Christopher) & 3 yr old granddaughter (Graci)love to help me in the kitchen. I do love to try new recipes on my family. Anything you can fix in a slow cooker is my friend too.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Since I work Monday thru Friday - I always try to fix a big breakfast on Saturday - most of my family & extended family shows up. Thanksgiving evening is spent with my sisters over dessert & coffee. I always have Christmas Eve at my house for everybody & cooking is one of the main things. They all look forward to something I have fixed NEW.
My cooking triumphs
Not sure I have any triumphs - my family always says it's good & comes back for more. That's triumph enough, I guess.
My cooking tragedies
The cooking tragedy I try to forget is my first CHERRY PIE (age 14)& DRESSING (age 21). My pie needed a crow bar to get out of the dish & my dressing was only fit for the garbage - where it went.

Best Oven Baked French Toast
As my 4 yr old granddaughter Graci would say "Yummy-this is delish".The first time I made this was for a Sunday brunch-which my family was late for & had it cold late that afternoon. They ate it like finger food & absolutely loved it. The only thing I did differently was add 1/4 cup sugar & 1 TSP vanilla to the egg mixture. My baking time was a little longer but maybe that was from not all ovens being alike. We took vacation a few days back & my family asked me to make it for breakfast - put it together the night before - put it in the oven next morning & wound up making it twice during our stay at the beach. Yes, they really liked it. This is going to be on my menu for holiday breakfast for years to come. Thanks GINNY066 for a wonderful recipe. DianneP

Baked French Toast
THIS WAS GREAT!! I fixed this for Father's Day & my husband's birthday. I used some of the modifications from other reviewers & it turned out perfectly. My family can't for my retirement (Dec 2013)so that that I can make it more often. Thanks for the recipe & to all the reviewers suggestions.

Grandma's Apple Dumplings
Fixed this numerous, numerous times & it always turns out to be absolutely perfect. The only thing I did differently was add the cinnamon to my sauce mixture & sprinkled apple pie spice on top before baking. The sauce is way too yummy - gonna experiment with the sauce using some apple cider with the OJ - fixing the crescent rolls with some butter & cinnamon sugar - then pour the hot sauce over the crescents & bake. My 4 yr old granddaughter loves, loves the sweet crust (as does most everybody else)but she gives me her baked apple in exchange for my crust. I'll be back to tell how the experiment goes. Could this be called "GRAM'S APPLESS DUMPLING"? Thanks for all the wonderful recipes ---- DianneP
