Simple Scones

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2013
I tried this about 6 months ago and make them regularly now. Absolutely perfect! I use the beater bar with my Kitchen Aid mixer - it is no fail. I took the hint from the cafe owner - mix the dry ingredients, turn the mixer on low and drizzle in the butter . . oh my gosh, it makes these beautiful little clumps, just like finger mixing. Then I put is much more goodies - a good 2 cups worth (usually a mix of coarsely chopped pecans, dried cherries and craisins and raisins - pretty much what ever sounds good). . and sprinkle the top with slivered almonds and sugar. I keep wanting to frost them, but they don't last long enough! Don't be afraid to try the mixer method as the cleanup is way easier than the food processor!

Glazed Meatloaf I

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2013
This is my family's favorite meatloaf recipe. I got it from ARecipe's site several years ago and it's become a classic in the family. If I don't have an onion or bread available, I use a heavy 1/2 cup of Italian bread crumbs - and I often use a pkg of onion soup mix if there isn't a onion to be found. I always double the recipe and freeze a loaf - and I never forget to make extra sauce. Excellent, Excellent!

Sparkling Punch

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2010
Really wonderful recipe. I made a "mistake" and bought tonic water for one of the carbonated waters. It gave it a wonderful tang that I think I will repeat in the future. . . very refreshing . . . everyone is correct advising to buy extra ingredients because I've never had any left!

Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2009
I FORGOT the sour cream!!! Didn't realize it until it was baking and I couldn't believe it. Know what? That bread was AWESOME. I saved a million calories and it was STILL awesome. Some added additional cinnamon and nutmeg, but I'm a banana bread purist and I really don't like anything messing with the banana flavor, so only add it if that's important to you. I did mash the bananas and made it to one cup - used soft butter (melt? what's THAT about?) and the flour mix was added last only because it's habit with me. We loved this recipe!

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2009
our all time favorite - but I NEVER add the water and still have awesome gravy - add a small can of mushrooms and 1/4 cup of red or burgundy wine and the family is thrilled. If the gravy is too thick, you can always add a little water - but I never do . . .

Pork Chalupas

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2007
This has been in our family for years - glad it's been posted. I use this for a crowd and have the following on the side: diced tomatoes, sour cream, diced onion, guacamole, chopped olives, and lots of salsa. Then I have them serve it over fritos and add all the "stuff" on top. ALWAYS a hit.
