Country Fried Squash

Great recipe for frying up all those summer squash! My children, who hate veggies, ate this willingly! I decreased the milk to 1/4 cup and added some Frank's Red Hot Sauce to the egg/milk mixture for a little kick! I have also made a batch using half a packet of Ranch mix in the flour for a little extra zing!

Good basic recipe! I substituted butter for the shortening and used lemon and apple pie fillings. I did not flatten them out prior to baking as I wanted a deep "well" for the fillings. They did puff up quite a bit in the oven!

Fragrant Lemon Chicken

Due to the other "bland" reviews we did the following: Run your hand between the skin and meat of the chicken on both sides, loosening the skin from the meat(making like a little pocket). Rub a little salt and pepper on your hands and rub over the meat to season. Place FRESH rosemary stems and lemon slices on the meat and then stretch the skin over and secure with a toothpick or two. I cut tow lemons in half and placed inside the cavity instead of the veggies. The flavor is very lemony with a nice hint of the rosemary. The smell is wonderful! Hope this helps!

Lemon Zucchini Bread

This is the BEST zucchini bread I've ever had! Like the other reviewers, I added more lemon zest and the juice of one lemon. It's very moist and light. Perfect way to use up the extra zucchini from the garden (and actually the ONLY way I can get my kids to eat it!) THANKS!

Ham and Cheese Picnic Bread

GREAT recipe! I put one tbs. italian seasoning in the dough and used just ham and mozzarella for the filling. I also added fresh ground pepper to the filling. For the top, I brushed with melted butter and sprinkled a combo of parmasean cheese, italian seasoning and kosher salt. It made the house smell wonderful, and the herbs made the bread so rich! The braid and toppings made this look like true artisan bread! I've also made this with chopped kalamata olives and parmasean cheese added to the dough. REALLY good recipe! Thanks!

Excellent recipe! Did follow the advice of others and added 1/2 cup more honey and 2 extra egg yolks. Cooking time was only 30 min. and I had to cover with foil to prevent to dark a crust. We used the second loaf as french toast the next morning and it was DIVINE! Thanks!

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Fantastic dough as is written! For extra goodness I put in a tablespoon of dried italian herbs and brush the rim of the crust with garlic butter. Put a light sprinkling of cornmeal on whatever you bake your dough on for a nice crispy crunch!

Super Squash

Really good recipe! I made it for Christmas and everyone liked it! I used dry minced onion (about 1/4 C.) instead of chopping the two onions, and used some of the stuffing mix instead of the saltines. My store didn't have a great selection of squash, so I used half squash and half zucchini...very good!

Oatmeal Gingersnaps

Really nice and easy recipe! I used maple syrup in place of molasses (didn't have any) and they came out nice and chewy. I will add a tad more spice next time I make these and maybe some cinnamon. I made these with a thermos of hot chocolate to go view Christmas lights with the family. Definitely tasted like the holidays!

Fig and Date Bread

Really good bread! I used all dried figs instead of dates and added the zest of one lemon. To increase nutritional value I added 2TBS. of wheat germ and ground flax seeds. We have a huge fig tree and will be making this one again and again! Thanks.

Cheesecake Brownies

Great and quick recipe!!! For a little added decadence, mix in a few tablespoons of cherry pie filling or orange marmalade (if doing the marmalade, warm over gentle heat and add a splash of Grand Mariner!) YUM!

Creamy Macaroni and Cheese

Very easy and good! Took this to Thanksgiving dinner and everyone ate it up! I used mild cheddar and a little less dijon (my kids don't like that sharp/tangy taste) and it came out perfect! Thanks for such an easy recipe!

Skillet Chops with Mushroom Gravy

Used seasoned bread crumbs and one cup of milk and breading left overs to gravy. It was wonderful! Kids ate it up, literally 'licking' their plates clean! Will most definately make this one again and again!

Sausage Jalapeno Poppers

Holy canoli! These were awesome! I made them the night before and popped them in the oven when guests arrived. I did put them under the broiler for just a minute to really crisp up that bacon. I'd like to make them again using the cream cheese with chives.

Land of Nod Cinnamon Buns

These are wonderful! I make this twice a week at our house, but the kids want them every morning! Really rich and gooey! I put a handfull of the brown sugar in the pan before putting in the bread so that when you turn it over it flows over the whole thing! To the previous poster...do not use full size frozen dinner rolls. Use the frozen dough balls (about the size of a walnut.) You should be able to find them in the same area in your supermarket, next to frozen bread dough!
