Best Ever Sausage with Peppers, Onions, and Beer!

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2004
This recipe was fantastic. I subbed pasta sauce for the tomato paste, but it is true, the beer makes the recipe (and I don't even like beer). I used Miller Genuine Draft, but I would love to try a different beer next time. Very flavorful, I will use this one over and over again. My husband loved it.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies I

Reviewed: May 17, 2010
What a super chocolately treat. My four year old loved them, as did my husband and I. I made the whole recipe, and froze them into little balls so I could just pull a few out and bake whenever I need (or want!) them. It worked great. My favorite double chocolate cookie recipe!

Marshmallow Fondant

Reviewed: May 17, 2010
This was my first try at making fondant, and it was very easy. It is also very tasty; my daughter kept wanting more, and she hated the fondant on her (bought) birthday cake.

Black Magic Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2009
This was a great cake, moist and easy to make, and I had no problems; it didn't stick to the pan. I filled it with Chocolate Ganache and topped it with Sour Cream Chocolate Frosting. It was a great hit. A chocolate lover's dream. My Mom used to make a similar cake, and I'm thinking this one may be better (sorry, Mom). My neighbor forced me to give her the recipe.

Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2009
This is a great banana muffin; light and oh so tasty. I substitute applesauce for 1/2 of the oil, and usually add a bit of cinnamon. Today I used white chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet, and they were great. My three year old loves them, as does my husband. Very easy to make, and no disappointments.

Chocolate Ganache

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2009
I used this as a filling for the Black Magic Cake, with the Sour Cream Chocolate Frosting as a topper. It was fantastic, and my chocoholic husband loved it. My neighbor practically stole the cake on her way out. Decadent.

Pear Cranberry Crumble

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2009
I'm not a big crisp or crumble fan, but this was very good, especially with whip cream on top. A great way to use up some fresh pears when your husband buys a case of them because they are "on sale". Pretty sweet, but I used brown sugar throughout, so that may be my fault. The cranberries lend a little variety to the recipe.

Broccoli Casserole I

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2009
This was fantastic. I used fresh steamed broccoli, basmati rice and a combination of Cheez Whiz and cream cheese, and one mushroom soup and one cream of celery soup (all I had in the house, otherwise I'd have followed it to the letter!). So tasty. I don't even like broccoli, and I'm not a big fan of rice, either. I also sprinkled some corn flake crumbs on top for a little crunch, and it was just heaven. I'll make this one again and again.

Dumplings

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2009
My mother used to make chicken and rice with dumplings all the time when I was a child. She is no longer with us, and unfortunately her recipe is long gone. I was craving chicken soup with dumplings, and tried this out, and they were so good! They honestly transported me back to my childhood. Absolutely delicious, and my three year old loved them too. They are a great change from pasta or rice, and they were very tender and sweet. A great recipe, and very easy to make.

Marinade for Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2009
Unbelieveable! I didn't have time to marinate the chicken long before we bbq'd, but it was still fantastic. I did not add the extra salt; it was salty enough on its own (and I'm a big saltaholic). I'm not sure I'll even share this one with anyone; I want to keep it all for myself!

Best Guacamole

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2009
This was fantastic. Next time, I'm going to omit the olive oil (it seemed to overpower the flavor to me), but it was still very tasty.

Dill Pickles

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2009
These turned out great, even though I had to stop soaking the cukes (my daughter broke her leg!) and soak them again later. Very crunchy, just a great texture. They turned out a bit salty (even for me), but I attribute that to mistakes I made (too much water boiled off while I filled the jars), not the recipe. I may add a bit more dill next time, but I'll definitely make them again next year.

Grandma's Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2010
Grandma knew what she was doing! The poultry seasoning gives it a great flavour. The first time I made it, I cut back on the salt (I was a little leery), but then had to add some chicken soup base. The second time, I didn't even add chicken; it was fantastic just with noodles (I used chinese noodles) and the veggies. Super easy and super tasty.

Ginger Beef Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2011
This was great. I used pork b/c I didn't have beef, and marinated it in teriyaki for a couple of hours. Had no fresh, so used powdered ginger, and omitted the red pepper flakes b/c my 5 year old was eating it. I also tripled the sauce b/c I had at least double the ingredients. I would have liked it a bit spicier, but with Ms. Fussy pants eating it, had to go on the mild side. But I enjoyed the sauce; I always have problems making stir fries, so I was happy overall with the flavor. Maybe next time I will add chili sauce to my plate and my husband's.

Slow Cooker Beef Stew IV

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2008
What a great stew. Best I've made. And I didn't even have any wine on hand, but I'm sure that makes it even better. I added a few diced tomatoes to the mix, a bit of garlic, and cooked it on high for about 5 hours to make the potatoes nice and tender. It was a bit peppery for my two year old, but next time I'll just ease up on that (even though I loved it!).

Lemon Chicken Tenders

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2008
I made these hoping my two year old daughter (who is currently on a strike against meat) would eat them. They were very easy to make, and I really liked the flavour.....not too sweet for me! Turns out she ate quite a few bites (dipped in honey, yet!), so I was happy. I omitted the curry for her, and I didn't have fresh lemons which would make it even more mouth-puckering good, but it was still very tasty, and super tender.

Sesame Pasta Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2008
Fantastic! So light tasting! My family loved it, including my two year old daughter. I assembled my salad the night before and let it marinate itself, and it was wonderful. My mother-in-law even asked for the recipe. I will definitely make this again......so quick, easy and tasty.
