Wonderful Banana Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2006
This cake was moist and delicious. It was a big hit with the co-workers.I used others suggestions as follows: I used a preheated 350 degree oven and baked for about 40-45 minutes. I frosted it with a mixture of 1 pkg. banana pudding; 1 cup milk; 1 tub cool whip. Topped it with chopped walnuts.

Henry and Maudie's Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2007
I was looking for a recipe using whole wheat flour and these were great. I couldn't tell the difference from my usual oatmeal cookie recipe. I did add 1 cup of raisins because we love them and also 1 tsp of cinnamon. Thanks for the great recipe!

Chipotle Crusted Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2012
I found the best advice was from a previous reviewer who pointed out the recipe called for 3 tbsp of "chipotle chili powder" not just chipotle chili PEPPER which was what I had. There is a BIG difference in the two. So I used 2 tbsp of standard chili powder and 1/2 tsp of the chipotle chili pepper. It was spicy but not too hot. I think maybe this is where all the others were having the problem with the hotness. My family loved it. I'm going to try it on chicken next.

Dill, Feta and Garlic Cream Cheese Spread

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2006
Wonderful spread! And sooooo easy. I mixed it all in my food processor. The only thing I did different was use a little less feta (my own taste), used 2 teaspoons of dried dill weed (did not have fresh ) and added a tiny bit of milk to make it spread a little easier. Everyone was right that it gets better with time.

Mary's Roasted Red Pepper Dip

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2005
I used low fat cheeses and mayo and it was just as yummy. Also 1/2 the jack cheese I used had jalepenos which others suggested and is highly recommended. I also used a 12 oz jar of the red peppers because that happened to be what I had on hand. Everyone at my party loved it!! Thanks, Mary!

Absolute Mexican Cornbread

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2005
I cut the butter to 3/4 cup and there was still plenty. It is a very sweet corn bread (more like cake) but quite good. I brought it to a party and everyone loved it.

Italian Bread II

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2005
I was a little confused by the instructions. It tells you to divide the dough in 2 but the recipe is for one loaf. Anyway, it was delicious . It was my first attempt at Italian Bread and my family all loved it! I also used your tip about baking it the extra five minutes while the lasagna I made was cooling. It worked great. Warm and crusty. Thanks, Verla!

Dip For The Stars

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2004
I wish I had taken everyone's advice and brought copies of the recipe with me . It makes a very large amount so I divided it and brought it to 2 parties. Everyone loved it and wanted the recipe. It is a little pricey to make but very good.

Beezie's Black Bean Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2004
I must have done somthing wrong. I cooked it much longer than was recommended and the beans were not cooked. I brought the soup to a work potluck and had to throw it out because the beans were still hard. Help! I would love to try it again because I loved the flavor. Did anyone else have this problem???

I drizzled a little caramel sauce over batter before baking but other wise stuck to the recipe exactly. My oven required approximately 10 more minutes cooking time. Big hit in my house....delicious and easy!!

Ultimate Twice Baked Potatoes

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2010
Made these for Father's Day dinner and they were a big hit. The only changes I made were to use fresh chives (because I had them already) instead of the green onion but either would work great. I also reduced the amount of milk adding it as I whipped the potatoes until they were the right creamy consistency. I think this will vary depending on the size of your potatoes although mine were quite large. Thanks for the wonderful recipe. I know they will be requested again soon!!

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2009
We loved these potatoes. I diced the onions instead of slicing them and mixed some cheese with a little bread crumbs to add on top. I also took the cover off for the last 15 minutes to brown it up. Delicious!!

Chicken Marsala Florentine

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2009
Delicious with a couple modifications. I felt the butter was way too much. Only used 2 tablespoons. I also sauteed the mushrooms with a couple sliced garlic cloves before adding wine. I cut back on the sun-dried tomatoes to about 1/3 cup sliced and upped the spinach to about 2 cups. We loved it!!

A bit time consuming but a wonderful cake. I too love coffee flavor so I took advice of previous reviewers and doubled everything coffee related (instant coffee, kahlua, brewed coffee)and was glad I did. I also made 2 coffee layers and one white. Everyone in my family loved it!!

Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2007
My family really liked this recipe. I also couldn't get the onion soup at our store so I improvised with some sauteed onions added to a can of condensed beef broth and added a little diced onion to the meat mixture. I also threw in about 1/2 lb. of sliced mushrooms when I added the sauce. Just something we like. I will definitely be making this again. Thanks, Kelly.
