This was actually just simple and easy! I read over some of the recent reviews. The root beer worked better than water as far as the texture of the meat goes more than actually flavoring the meat. I had no issues with cleaning the root beer off of my crock pot, it actually came off with just water. My crock pot isn't anything fancy either, just an old hand-me-down one from a friend of mine who replaced hers a couple of Christmas' ago. Maybe that person didn't add enough root beer and/or over cooked it. Anyway, this was a great recipe. I work nights, so I just popped this baby in the crock pot with the root beer and cooked on low while I slept about 6 hours. When I woke up, I just drained the meat, shredded it, and topped it off with some sweet generic bbq sauce that I had in the fridge. =)
