About this Cook
I love to cook. I'm still learning but I'm getting better at it. I'm a newlywed and I am enjoying cooking lots of dishes for my husband. He loves being the guinea pig for testing out new meals! I also have a really fat cat named Taz. I am also a pediatric nurse.
My favorite things to cook
I like to cook a whole variety of different foods. From stir fry to lebanese food to enchiladas. My mom cooked the same things over and over again when I was growing up, and I like to be different and try new things.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We always make pecan short bread cookies for Christmas. Corn cassarole is also a hit during the holidays.
My cooking triumphs
Cheese cake, stir fry, and stuffed lebanese zucchini come to mind first. They are very yummy. I plan on adding the zucchini recipe to this site once I tweak it just a tad. :)
My cooking tragedies
One time, I accidentally put a plastic lid over my baking pan while I was baking pork chops. The plastic melted and the smell was horrible! The porkchops were ruined and I just had to throw the whole pan out. It took forever to get the smell out of the apartment, and the platic out of the stove. Never again will I do that!

Quick Tuna Salad
Yum! Added 2 hard boiled eggs and a stalk of celery, some garlic and onion powder and it was delish! I served it for lunch over a bed of greens. Healthy low carb lunch!

Sirloin Tips and Mushrooms
Yum! Great and easy recipe! The only thing I did different was add a whole chopped white onion to it while the meat was browning and used fresh baby portabello mushrooms. I was nervous with all the liquid at first but after simmering for 40 minutes it was the perfect gravy consistency! Yum! Served it over garlic brown rice and quinoa. Will make again!

Martha's Vegetable Beef Soup
This was a great soup! I used 2 cans of low sodium beef broth instead of water, chopped up a small yellow onion to brown with 1 lb of ground beef and seasoned the beef with garlic powder and pepper. All the other ingredients I left the same except I did add a 1/2 cup of Marsala wine. It was a delicious, hearty soup! Will make again!
