Used whole wheat pitas for personal pizzas, and changed cheese to old cheddar. Really good.

Reduce the brown sugar, possibly by half. Skip the fish sauce. All good.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2007
Finally!! This is it! A flawless banana bread recipe that is easy and delicious! I exchanged half the flour for whole wheat flour, and otherwise made no changes. If you have this many bananas on hand and ready (I used six) then this is the recipe for you!

French Onion Soup III

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2007
I'm going to give this five stars! But only with these adjustments... Based on the reviews of others, I didn't include the water at all. I used vegetable broth to make this a vegetarian dish. I doubled the onion, and added parsley flakes, garlic and salt. I also added a dash of balsamic vinegar to combat the slightly bland taste to the whole thing. I used seasoned croutons instead of bread, then topped the bowls off with mozzarella and parmesan cheeses, sprinkled with parsley flakes, and broiled them in the oven til slightly browned. Absolutely delicious and very filling soup.

Asian Asparagus Salad with Pecans

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2007
My husband and toddler liked this, but I didn't much. I found the asparagus to be very soggy after marinating for so long. I also found there to be too much of the dressing. I think there are better (crispier) ways to enjoy a great vegetable.

Mini Eggplant Pizzettes

Good! Exactly as you'd expect. I thought it was delicious and easy and will make again. I added dried basil for a little extra something. Also check out Eggplant Delight on this site.

Tangy Ginger Lime Salad Dressing

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2007
A little crazy on the soya sauce, even though I cut the amount suggested in half. I found it a very, very salty dressing, not something I enjoyed much on a salad. I compensated this time by adding a whole lot of fruit to my salad, but I probably won't make again. Thanks anyway.

Oven Roasted Red Potatoes and Asparagus

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2007
Safe recipe. I didn't have any thyme, so missed that addition. Only other change I made was to add some onion powder to coat the potatoes. I found the cooking time was less than stated, especially for the asparagus, which I threw in about 10 minutes from the end. I did find the garlic was overcooked, even burned in some cases. Perhaps it should be thrown in half way through, rather than cooking the whole time. Overall, pretty good recipe.

Flourless Chocolate Cake II

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2007
Deliciously rich and wonderful! A very easy recipe, not daunting for the non-baker like me. A hit -- looks and tastes a lot more impressive than it really is! A couple of notes: 1) I just melted butter and chocolate together in a pot on low heat, no double boiler; 2) mine crumbled into pieces when it came out of the pan, despite greasing and powdering with cocoa. I solved this problem by icing with Hard Chocolate Glaze from this site. Totally hid the problem. I also dipped some strawberries in this glaze.

Hard Chocolate Glaze

Very easy and very tasty! Mine didn't harden completely, but was more like a thick, sweet icing. Good though, and handy for cake and brownies.

Banana Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2007
I made this into a dozen muffins, and baked for about 22 minutes. Overall, I found them good, certainly not sweet like some banana breads, but a little dry. Perhaps baking them that long was too much, or perhaps more than 3 bananas would have helped, which is what I used.

Broccoli Cheese Bake

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2007
Great tasting dish. I expected a little more cheese "sauce" rather than eggy-bake (like a quiche) but the taste was delicious, and we will definitely have it again in our family. I used onion powder, cheddar and gruyere cheeses, and whole wheat flour, otherwise, followed the recipe exactly.

Banana Oatmeal Crumb Cake

Great tasting and easy! I used whole wheat flour, and nearly 3 full bananas. The cake was moist, beautiful and delicious. For a non-baker, I couldn't believe I'd made it!

Whole Wheat Blueberry Pancakes

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2007
Great recipe. Just add a bit more milk (or soy milk) and you're good to go! I make all the dry stuff in large, large batches, store, and then when ready, measure out the right amount of "mix" and add the wet. This way, we're all ready in the mornings!

Spinach Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2007
This is GREAT! It's like a quiche without the work! Changes I made were to sautee the onion, and when it was nearly done, throw in the spinach to sautee it rather than boil it. (I used fresh spinach.) I used 1/2 feta and 1/2 cheddar cheese, used whole wheat flour, and I reduced the butter by half. Really great recipe, and I'll use over and over I'm sure! Great find!

Sunflower Drop Cookies

These cookies are pretty good. They taste very buttery, and remind me of shortbread in this way. I like them, though, although they aren't the best I've ever had. I may make them again, may not...

Tasty salad, better than expected. I hava tried with cilantro and with basil instead. Both were good, but cilantro was definitely better.
