Grocery Store Frosting

Frosting was great - and really simple to make. It made a lot too! I got a lot of compliments on this frosting. I used almond extract instead of vanilla. I do notice that after being out a litte bit, it does get a little hard on the edges. I'm sure I could prevent that by using more butter and less shortning. Yum.

Garlic Cheddar Chicken

The concept of this dish is great, but the greasyness of the dish was a little much. Perhaps an egg bath is more appropriate than butter. If you add garlic straight into the breadcrumbs, that takes care of the garlic flavor. The bottoms of my chicken were soggy from all the standing butter. I will keep working with this recipe.

White Sauce

I would rate this a 5 star if it was perfect as written. It is the exact texture and thickness I was looking for, but it definately needs some spices and salt because it is bland otherwise written. Thanks for the base!

Sugar Cookies IX

I don't ever need to search for another sugar cookie recipe again. This is amazing! I rolled the dough into balls and dipped them in colored sprinkles- they spread out beautifully- and were perfectly round. The flavor and texture is also outstanding! Thanks for the awesome recipe!

Classic Macaroni Salad

We used this recipe for our company picnic this year. It's pretty good, but we made some adjustments. We didn't use the pimentos, and added olives. We used red pepper instead of green. Next time I make this, I will cut the sugar down, because it is a little too sweet for my taste.

Alaska Salmon Bake with Pecan Crunch Coating

This tasted pretty good - but I don't think I will make it again. The breadcrumb/pecan mixture was dry on the salmon, so it was falling off the salmon. I added more butter on top of the salmon to "crisp" it up a little bit, but it didn't really work out. It was the texture of sand and salmon - not exactly what I was hoping for. bummer.

Michelle's Peanut Butter Marbled Brownies

These were fantastic. I used boxed brownie mix for the brownie portion (short on time) - and they were fabulous. I did them in a 9 X 11 pan - with a doubled recipe. I added about a 1/2 cup more peanut butter for a stronger peanut butter taste. They were a hit at my company picnic!

Butterscotch Brownies III

These were really good- but they could be great. I doubled the recipe to fit into a 9 X 11 pan - but they still weren't as thick as a brownie should be. Next time, I'll double the recipe for a 8 X 8 pan, or I'll quad the recipe for a 9 X 11 pan. I added butterscotch chips to the batter - and it added a lot of yum.

Bacon Wrapped Smokies

I normally make these for all family get togethers and parties. Recently, we had a housewarming party, and although these were on the menu, I ran out of time. Everyone told me that I wasn't allowed to omit them from the menu again. I love them, and knew everyone else loved them, but I got glares when they found out I didn't make any. Always make double the amount than you think you need. They go very fast!

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Wow- this is such a unique and fun recipe. My guests at our housewarming party loved it- and it went quickly. You could really add any kind of fruit (probably not bananas) to this salsa to suit your taste. I did have to cook the chips longer to get them crispy, because I didn't want them to be chewy. Fun and yummy.

Crab Tartlets

These were good- and pretty easy. I made the cream cheese tarts from this site instead of the phyllo cups. They were like mini quiches. I added chopped artichoke hearts to the mixture too- and really enjoyed it that way. I forgot to put the cheese in the tarts first, but topped the egg mixture with cheese before baking. I liked them like that.

Party Chicken Wings

This is my new standby for wings at parties. Not only that, but it will be my new standby for teriyaki marinade. It's really wonderful. I made 2 batches of wings for my housewarming party, and they went quickly. I added most of the marinade to the pan while cooking, so they essentially "boiled" in the marinade. It made for sticky, delicious chicken. Will be making again and again.

The Best Lemon Bars

Very good bars. I did up the lemon juice to 2/3 cup like other reviewers (and added 2 tbsp flour), but I think next time, I'll use 1/2 cup, as they were slightly too tart. I think that the juice of 2 lemons is too subject to interpretation since lemons come in different shapes and sizes. Otherwise, this is my new standby. The crust is fabulous!!

Balsamic-Glazed Salmon Fillets

Great recipe. It was warm in our house, and I really didn't feel like turning on the oven, so I did the entire thing on the stove top. I made the glaze first, then put the salmon in to cook. Since I did that, I had to watch it very carefully, because the glaze can easily burn. When it got too thick, I added water so that it wouldn't burn. That worked great, and it seemed to infuse the flavor of the glaze right through the salmon. My hubby loved it, and I'll definately be making this again.

Parmesan Artichoke Casserole

I could eat this every day- it is so good. I didn't find that it made a whole lot though, and I certainly couldn't figure out why the recipe calls for a 9 X 13 pan. I used an 8 X 8 glass dish, which worked fine. I added basil to the mixture, and topped the entire thing with an italian cheese blend (mozz, provolone, parm. I sprinkled it generously with paprika. Very creamy and delicious.

Creamy Rice Pudding

Brand name rice pudding is so expensive, so I've stopped buying it, although I crave it all the time. I tried this recipe yesterday- and wow, it's good. I used 1% milk, and it thickened up just fine (in fact, it's so thick, that I had to add a little more milk to thin it out). I did it without raisins this time, but will add them the next time I make it. Thanks so much for a great recipe.

Tart and Bubbly Wedding Punch

This is the best punch recipe I've found so far. It is tart and sweet, so I always find that I could stand to cut the juice concentrate down a bit. This recipe fills 2 of my punch bowls- but the overall taste (give or take some of the ingredients) is good- and people usually finish it off.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

This was a great dinner- and fairly simple too. I love it because you can adjust the recipe easily to suit your tastes. I accidentally left out the peas- but will definately try some new veggies next time. I used a 9" round casserole dish- and premade Pillsbury pie crusts- it worked great! I have to make dinner for a church group of 20 this weekend, and I think this will be the recipe. It'll be easy to scale it for 2 9 X 11" pans. Thanks for the keeper!
