Italian Cookies II

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2004
These cookies were very different than your average cookie. They were very light and cake like in texture- almost like a spongecake (like lady fingers or madelines). I will have to try using lemon extract in the cookies and icing next time. I think that would make them even more delicious!! I definately recommend the icing- it adds a lot to the cookie, and takes away from the odd hint of ricotta that may or may not strike others as strange.

Italian Sausage Tortellini Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2004
This soup was really good. Don't omit the wine- this adds so much delicious flavor that you can't get from anything else. We used chicken italian sausage, and cut it up very small. I noted that the recipe states 3.5 oz of sausage, but I used a 14oz package of italian sausage- and it was perfect.

Triple Layer Cookie Bars

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2004
Can I just tell you that these are the best?! They are so easy to make! Don't hassle with melting the chocolate/peanut butter on the stove. Just use the microwave. Very easy and so good.

The Whole Jar of Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2004
Seriously the best cookie recipe I have ever made. My husband loves these!! The peanut butter flavor is so fantastic. Definately do not cook longer than 12 minutes unless you like a crunchier cookie. Woo Hoo!

Super-Easy Rocky Road Fudge

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2004
I was surprised to see poor ratings for this recipe. This really is delicious and easy! I seriously whipped up a quick batch of these 10 minutes before I headed out to a party- and the plate was empty when I left the party. They are a hit!

Garlic Cheese Biscuits

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2004
My husband is still talking about these. They are very good. Very close to "the popular seafood chain's". Easy to make too.

Mrs. Fields Cookie Recipe II

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2004
This is the weirdest cookie recipe I have ever tried. My sister in law and I made these together, and we were laughing all the way through the process. We had no idea what we were getting into. These definately do not taste anything like Mrs. Field's. I was very dissapointed in these cookies after I first made them. The next day, I changed my mind. I am not sure what happens overnight- but they are delicious the next day. I haven't made them since, but i will have to make them again when I have the energy to do so.

Asian Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2004
This was a fun recipe. I made it for a church potluck. I never thought about using uncooked ramen noodles for crunch- but it really works! I love sesame flavor, so I think I will use sesame oil next time instead of vegetable oil.

Newport Clam Chowder

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2004
The flavor of this chowder is so fantastic! I used canned clams and I cut the clam juice in half, and substituted chicken broth for the rest (clam juice is expensive!). I recommed more potatoes. I like a thicker chowder, so I had to add a cornstarch/milk mixture toward the end to thicken it. Per my husband's request, I think I will add bacon text time and see how we do with that. I made this soup for my mother in law for her birthday- and she loved it- along with all the other guests. It was quite a compliment, because the family that I married into are seafood experts- and live on this stuff.

Easy Red Beans and Rice

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2004
This was pretty good. I have made it a couple of times, and I really like the flavor of the turkey kielbasa. I like to add some cumin, because the flavor alone isn't much. You should play around with different spices to suit your tastes.

A Jerky Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2004
This was quite good. I used jalepenos, because I didn't have any habanaros on hand. I will definately try habanaros next time though. Great low-cal, low fat recipe.

Moroccan Salmon Cakes with Garlic Mayonnaise

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2004
WOW! I was very impressed with this recipe. I used leftover salmon from the night before, and I accidentally opened a box of brown rice instead of cous-cous, so I used that instead, and still delicious! I definately recommed making the garlic mayo an hour or so beforehand- the flavor really comes out after chilling for a while.

Blackened Salmon Fillets

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2004
I was prepared for the smoke in the house- but I was dissappointed in how this recipe turned out. It may have been me though- the salmon burnt before it cooked fully on the inside. I had to put them in the microwave to cook the fish. My husband wasn't very impressed, but I think I may try this again just to be sure that it wasn't something that I did wrong.

Garden Veggie Pizza Squares

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2004
My mom used to make these for parties when I was younger- and I always loved the flavor. I was glad to find the recipe here. I made it for a housewarming party, but instead of refrigerator crescent rolls, I used frozen pastry sheets. This is what my mom always used, and it really adds a nice flaky texture. I love the presentation- very impressive (and very easy to make)

Cheesy Little Link Snack Wraps

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2004
I made these for our housewarming party along with a lot of other wonderful food from allrecipes.com, and I was surprised to see that these were the first thing that I ran out of. I did use real cheese instead- but I liked them even without the cheese. Great for kids, as they were the first ones to gobble these up.

Carla's Fruit Dip

Very good- the texture was great with 8oz of cream cheese instead of 3oz.It cut the sweetness back a bit. Perfect addition to fresh strawberries.

Cheese Fondue

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2004
I was very impressed with this recipe. This was the first time that I had ever made fondue before, and I was very excited about the results. Don't substitute anything for the gruyere- this cheese is the ticket to making your fondue creamy.I served this with apples and french bread infused with roasted garlic cloves. Wonderful!

Restaurant-Style Tequila Lime Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2004
This is really a fantastic recipe. My husband loves this dish at the restaurant, and although the concept is the same, the flavor isn't quite. I would, however, recommend this recipe to everyone who isn't on a diet. Don't hesitate to make this recipe based on the long list of ingredients. The flavor is really worth the effort.

Artichoke Spinach Dip

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2004
This was really good- I doubled the spinach this time, but next time I would triple the spinach- and add fresh garlic instead of garlic salt. It was just really creamy- and I like some substance in my dip. Everyone really loved it though.

Parmesan Crusted Salmon

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2003
Oh so good. I couldn't believe how moist and tender the salmon was. I used salmon filets, and I was afraid that this wouldn't work, but it did. I would like to have more of a crust on the salmon, and I will lower the heat next time, but will definately make this again and again.
