Chicken Manicotti Alfredo

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2013
I followed the recipe except I added a 1/2 package of spinach per other reviews which meant I needed to cut back on the amount of chicken a little or I'd have too much stuffing for the shells. The biggest change I'd make is the amount of salt in the sauce. It was way too salty for me and even my husband thought it was salty and he typically adds salt to every dish. I'd either use unsalted butter or cut the salt in half or even less. I'd also use a little less of each of the herbs. The basil in particular I thought was a little strong. I'd make it again but with modifications.

Butter Pound Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2012
I was excited about this cake, followed the recipe to a T, and planned to use it in a cake with a mold that needed a firm cake. But it didn't rise at all - I should have read the other review to add some baking powder or soda. I left it in the 1 1/2 hours and it seemed done, but cutting into it the deck day the middle was still undercooked. On the positive side the taste is great if your looking for a dense cake - just be sure to cook it more.

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies I

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2010
Tastey, although I think I'd like them more with white chocolate chips. I followed the recipe exactly except I forgot to grease the cookie sheet, but they didn't stick at all. Next time I think I'd add 3/4 cup of chocolate chips instead as some had only 1-2 chips in them. Only made about 3 1/2 dozen for me.

Stuffed Shells III

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2010
This is an awesome dish. It is easy to make and is a good dish if you need to prep the night before and throw in the oven the next day. I get compliments every time I make it. After making it several times I make two alterations: add a teaspoon or a clove of minced garlic and I only use 8 ounces of mozzerela cheese b/c I think it has plenty of cheese in it. I put 1/2 in the mixture and sprinle the rest on top. I've made it with and without mushrooms - tastes great both ways.

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2010
Came out great! My first turkey and it was nice and moist. I did cook my 13.5lb turkey at 325 instead and it took almost 5 1/2 hours. Not sure why it took so long but it may not have been fully defrosted. Simple and easy to make!

Zucchini-Chocolate Chip Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2010
DELICIOUS! These were excellent. I made two more batches this week. Per others recommendations, I put in closer to 1/2 cup mini choc chips (but for less sweet one I think 1/4 would've been fine) and I'm not a nut fan so I omitted those, but these were great!

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2010
Great recipe, I followed it except instead I used 1 c of brown sugar and 1 c of white sugar instead of 2 1/4 cup of white. I think I'd try it with the all white next time and throw in a few mini choc chips. Very moist though and delicious

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: May 23, 2010
5 stars on taste, but I can only give it three because I only got about 12 cookies that I could serve to guests. They came out very flat which meant getting them off the pan they squished up or broke even after spraying the pan first. I even refrigerated the dough in between baking. I followed the recipe except per others I only used about 1 1/4-1 1/2 c of choc chips.

Special Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2009
Great frosting - made just as the recipe specified, but I cut everything in half which was perfect for a 9x12 size cake.

Aimee's Quick Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2009
This was awesome. My husband and I loved it. We weren't sure of the combination of sauces but it turned out great. We used what we had so we used provolone cheese and didn't put the bacon bits on it.

Apple Crisp IV

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2009
My husband and I thought this was just ok. I reduced the flour to 1 1/2 cups like other reviewers recommended but the "Crisp" part of it was still too cake-like and not crispy enough. The bottom layer soaked up a lot of the apples' juice so they apples dried out a little more than I like.

Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2008
I thought this bread was just above average. I agree with folks that it is VERY moist and heavy. If you follow the recipe exactly I think it is a little bland. I added 3/4 t cinnamon. Definately mash the bananas up. My husband and I weren't fans of them just being sliced and folded in. If you like fruit chunks in bread then it is ok to leaving them sliced. I'd make it again with some alterations

Crustless Spinach Quiche

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2008
Great recipe, I did take others advice and use 6 eggs. I also used shredded Italian cheese blend b/c I wanted something more flavorful than munster. Swiss would be good too. I also put in a pie crust. . . it was tasty

Black and White Cookies I

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2008
Good cookies, my husband loves black and white cookies and ate them all in a weekend. I accidently put in 1 teaspoon of vanilla but thought it added flavor. I used canned frosting for the chocolate instead based on reviews. I had muffin top pans which helped shape the cookies.

Delicious Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2003
Excellent! I didn't have smaller pans so I made 2 large loaves and baked them for 1 hour 20 min. I also added an extra dash of cinnamon and ginger. The bread came out extremely moist. Everyone loved it and asked to take the leftovers home with them.
