Pat's Baked Beans

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2010
Yummy! My husband, who doesn't really care for beans, loved these. Me too!!!

Boston Baked Beans

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2010
I *adore* baked beans. In an effort to avoid canned food additives and preservatives, I decided to look into finding a recipe I could make from scratch. THANK YOU AJRHODES3 for this recipe. YUMMMM! Like some others, I cooked them in a crockpot on high for six hours instead of the oven, removing the top the last 2 hours of cooking to help thicken. The only thing I would do differently next time is leave out the salt. The bacon adds enough salt for those of us who are sensitive to it.

Chicken Breasts with Balsamic Vinegar and Garlic

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2010
I give this recipe five starts because my husband said, "This is a restaurant quality dish." I enjoyed it also, but I feel as if it were missing something. I'll definitely make again and perhaps add a little more herbs.

Barbie's Tuna Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2010
I've made this recipe probably 10 times in the last couple weeks. I love it. The best tuna salad I've ever made. I even added cooked chicken instead of tuna once, and it was wonderful. Sometimes I add diced fresh onions instead of dried. And I'm dairy intolerant, so I don't add the Parmesan. It is yum!!!

Crab Hash With Old Bay & Basil

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2010
Very tasty. I added a little more Old Bay than called for. This would be good with fried eggs for breakfast. The only reason that I'm not giving it 5 stars is that there seems to be something missing, which my husband and I couldn't identify. But we enjoyed it nonetheless.

Authentic Pepper Pot Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2010
This soup is delicious. I used ham instead of tripe, and because I'm gluten and dairy intolerant, I left out out the margarine and flour, so it was very soupy and tasty. Thanks for the recipe Marbalet!

Cindy's Turkey Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2009
This was the perfect way to use leftover Christmas turkey. I followed the recipe only exchanging about a teaspoon of Sriracha sauce for the jalapeno and parsley for cilantro. I also added a couple cut up green onion. Yummy! Thanks Cindy!!

Garlic Chicken Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2009
The first time I made this recipe, I followed directions exactly, and my husband enjoyed it all right. The next time I made it, I added minced garlic and hot sauce (Sriracha) to the egg and milk mixture. I also added a little extra garlic powder to the flour/breadcrumb mixture. This time, my husband couldn't stop raving about it. I also used skinless/boneless chicken thighs, which takes much less time to cook. Thanks for the recipe!

Cedar Planked Salmon

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2009
I baked this on top of cedar paper. Other than that, I followed directions. I found this salty and barely edible.

This recipe seemed as if it had such potential. It's very bland.

Lisa's Italian Nachos

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2009
This was an enjoyable twist on nachos. I made half with the feta and half with a Mexican cheese mix because my husband doesn't like "fetid" cheese. LOL. I love feta but prefered this recipe with the Mexican cheese mix myself. Either way, it's different and yummy.

Mulligatawny Soup I

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2009
Oh, my gosh. This is one of the best soups I've ever had. I have a gluten sensitivity, so I left out the flour. I used 2 diced potatoes instead of rice, and used two chicken breasts, which I seasoned with pepper and garlic powder and seared in a little olive oil before cutting into cubes and adding to soup. I also did not add the heavy cream but instead put a dollop of sour cream on top of each serving. Thanks for the recipe, Lise P. I was wondering about Mulligatawny ever since the Seinfeld episode :-) Now I'm hooked!

Egg and Sausage Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2009
I served this for Christmas breakfast, and everyone *loved* it. I followed advice of some of the other reviewers: used 10 eggs instead of 8, added 1/2 milk to the egg mixture, used Italian seasoning instead of oregano, and cooked the crescent rolls for about 5 minutes before adding the remaining ingredients. Yum!

Caribbean Grilled Crab Cakes

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2008
The crabcakes were yummy, but the mango salsa, as other mention, is what makes this dish. To make the crabcakes gluten free, I left out the breadcrumbs, reduced the mayo to 1/2 cup, and as other suggested, I added Old Bay. I also added a pat of butter in the pan with olive oil instead of vegetable oil. My husband couldn't stop raving about the dish. I think he'd eat the salsa plain. We're not fans of cilantro, so I substituted parsley. I'll definitely use the salsa recipe for other dishes, like pork chops. Yum!

Tonkatsu - Asian-style Pork Chop

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2008
I added an extra 1/2 tsp garlic to the egg mixture and used cayenne pepper instead of black. I first dipped the chops in plain flour, then the egg mixture and just one dip into the panko crumbs. Very tasty.

Meaty Spaghetti Sauce

Reviewed: May 25, 2008
This recipe was a hit with the family! I used ground turkey and turkey sausage instead of ground beef and sausage; Rotel tomatoes instead of diced; and jar garlic/basil tomato sauce instead of can tomato sauce. The Rotel tomatoes add a nice "bite" to the recipe.

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: May 4, 2008
These pancakes were just okay. They were heavy, thick and, I think they could have used a little more sugar and milk. I didn't find them bitter, as other reviewers said. Perhaps they mistakenly used baking soda instead of baking powder; I don't know.

Quick Cassoulet

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2007
I thought this was really flavorful. I added a little beef broth and cornstarch to thicken it up a bit. I also let it simmer for about 1/2 hour because I don't think bay leaves have time to infuse their flavor in only 10 minutes. Very enjoyable.

Brisket with BBQ Sauce

My husband, who would eat BBQ for breakfast, lunch, and dinner everyday would have given this recipe three stars. I found it very bland.
