About this Cook
My name is Samantha. I really discovered my love for cooking after getting married in 2007. I was only 19 and a freshman in college, but cooking has been one of my favorite hobbies ever since. I love to challenge myself to perfect classics but also find recipes that I can whip up quickly on a weeknight. I work from home as an editor and live in the country, so I'm cooking more than ever now.
My favorite things to cook
For special occasions I love to make grill or cook something really special like Indian tacos, my favorite chicken parmesan, and steak with a really special pan sauce or demi-glace. My favorite weeknight recipes are Yummy Honey Chicken Kabobs (recipe on this site), Moist and Crispy Baked Chicken Breasts (recipe on, and grilled barbecue chicken (using the 4-3-2-1 spice rub from Bon Appetit magazine). I also love to cook a big breakfast for guests (or just my husband :))complete with biscuits, gravy, scrambled eggs, bacon, and homemade strawberry jam.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Frybread and Indian tacos, sausage gravy, chicken and dumplings, turkey dressing with gravy, fried chicken, apple pie, jiffy cobbler, and pecan pie.
My cooking triumphs
Thanksgiving dinner, Indian tacos, frybread, homemade sausage gravy from scratch (it only took 5 years), my grandmother's dressing (aka stuffing), perfect eggs, angel food cake, pan-seared steak with demi-glace.
My cooking tragedies
Cookies are my achilles heel, though I'm slowly getting better. Sausage gravy used to be my arch nemesis, but we finally kissed and made up.

Yummy Honey Chicken Kabobs
My husband (who is very picky) and I LOVE this recipe. I always double the marinade, but follow the rest of the recipe to a T. It makes great leftovers and is easy to adjust for a crowd.
