Baked Oatmeal II

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2014
Tired this one on a whim! So glad I did, I followed the basic recipe as written and added walnuts and a couple of apples I had that needed using. It was wonderful! I will defiantly be making this again. I have frozen peaches and berries that would be great in this. We ate it warm for breakfast with yogurt and cold cut into bars as a snak. Thanks so much for this one!

Master Pizza Dough

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2014
I have been using this recipe for a few months now. It's easy and fast to make. I made two changes that have made the crust just like fresh from the pizzeria . First I added 2 Tblsp gluten flour to the mix. I use my kitchen aid and I knead the dough on med for 6 minutes or so. I also found that if I have my water at 120 and not 126 - 130 my dough was way more tender. The most important thing I do is I cook my pizza on the bottom rack of the oven at 535 degrees for 12 to 14 min. It turns out crisp on the outside and chewy and light on the inside. So yummy! We make pizza at least three times a month now! Thanks for the recipe!

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2013
I love this recipe! As a novice bread maker I had no trouble with this one. The only things I did different was I made 3 1.4lb loafs instead of two large ones and I cut the sugar to 2tbls as suggested. I use a mixer (bad hands) and this was fast and really easy. My friend and family are very impressed with the taste and look. Thank-you!

Lentils and Rice with Fried Onions (Mujadarrah)

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2013
This was a really tasty dish! I followed some of the suggestions from the others and used 5 med sized onions and added a 1/4 tsp. of cinnamon. I also changed the spice a bit too suit us, I used 1/2 tsp. of ground ginger and a 1/2 tsp. of allspice in with my lentils and rice. I used 3 cups chicken stock with the lentils and added another 2 cups with the rice. It turned out perfect, the mix of onions with the cinnamon and the spiced lentil mix topped with the yogurt was yummy! Sort of like creamy pasticcio. Will be making this often! Thanks for the great recipe!

Sue's Hot Fudge Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2013
Wonderful fudge sauce! It was perfect and so easy! I followed the suggestions of other reviewers and went with 2 cups of sugar, 1/2 cup coco and 1 scant cup butter (salted) After boiling I cooled for 15 minutes then I blended for the four minutes. I added about 1-2 tblsp of whipping cream when I blended. It was perfect warm or cold! As someone who is allergic to soya, it is impossible to find things these days that do not contain it. Being able to make a treat like this is great and that it only takes a few minutes means I can make it whenever I need to. A big thank-you for this recipe!

Jamie's Cranberry Spinach Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2013
I brought this to Easter dinner and everyone loved it! The only change I made was, I used about 2 Tbls of Splenda instead of the sugar as we have a diabetic in the family. The salad didn't have time to wilt, it was all gone before anyone even asked for seconds on anything else. Thanks for this one!

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2013
I really loved this one. Did it with a 2lb round steak roast used the quantities for 6 servings. I did not have onion soup mix so I used mushroom soup, beef broth and added a tsp of dry roasted garlic, I seared my roast as some others suggested and I added some pepper (we like lots of pepper) This roast was fall apart tender but sliced very easily it made tons of mushroom garlic gravy. So yummy! served with sweet potato mash and green beans. The plates were cleaned in no time flat! Thanx for this one.

Chicken and Gnocchi Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2013
This soup was wonderful. I left out the spinach as I had none in the house. I cut my gnocchi in half as suggested and used two cans of tyson canned breast of chicken, it was perfect and so quick to make. I ended up adding extra chicken broth because it was too thick the second day. I also added about two tsp or so of savory and quite a bit of pepper. Just added some crusty french rolls (from this sight) and dinner was served.

World's Best Bacon Cheese Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2013
I loved the recipe! I took some of the advice from other posters and used half mayo and half sourcream. I had no green onions so I sauted a small yellow onion and a tsp of chopped garlic and added that, doubled the bacon and only had havarti cheese. I baked in the oven in a pie plate. Heaven! it was wonderful warm and just as good cold, I think the creamy havarti kept it smooth and creamy even when cold. I had no problem with grease at all.

Unbelievable Rolls

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2012
I just tried this recipe today my very first rolls ever! They turned out quite well but were yeasty tasting and not as light as I expected. But for my first try they were stellar! I did find them a bit too sweet so I will omit most of the sugar the next time round.
