Caramelized Onion and Horseradish Smashed Potatoes

Seriously delicious. I used apple cider vinegar in place of white wine vinegar, parsley in place of thyme, and sour cream in place of half and half. That's what I had on hand, but in the future, I'll probably make it according to the recipe just to see the difference. I agree with other reviews that the onions could be cut a little smaller. They were a little stringy, but oh so good.

Kale Chips

Tantalizing Turkey and Blue Cheese Meatballs

My 10 and 13 year old sons made these for me. They doubled the bread crumbs and doubled the cheese. They were delicious! This will be a regular dish in our house. Very easy to make.

Turkey Sandwiches with Cranberry Sauce

One of my all-time favorites, although I did modify mine a little. I did not use the butter and mayonnaise. I used cream cheese instead. I added finely chopped celery to the cream cheese to give it a little crunch because I also did not use the bacon. I love bacon, but I didn't have any. It really doesn't matter too much what you use as long as you keep the turkey and the cranberry sauce. That combination is heavenly. It's very good on any seeded bread. Very hearty and rustic that way. I also added alfalfa sprouts.

Wonton Wrappers

I used this recipe for the won tons I made from another recipe on this site. I didn't mind rolling them out by hand. I enjoyed it. I also covered the dough with a wet towel while I mixed up my won ton filling. Then I went back to making squares. I didn't get them as thin as store bought won ton wrappers, but they still cooked up crispy.

Sloppy Sams

Scrumptious!! I didn't have the mustard powder and I completely forgot the black pepper. Still, I ate two of them even though I was full after one. I couldn't stop myself. Everybody liked them, even my die hard meat and potato eating dad.

Grilled Sausages with Caramelized Onions and Apples

Scrumptious! I used apple cider vinegar. I served with brussels sprouts in a mustard cream sauce, another recipe from this website. Although I previously made the horseradish mashed potatoes from this website, I didn't make them to go with this dish. Next time I will.

Strawberry Salad with Shallot-Honey Vinaigrette

Lick your plate good. My kids helped me make this; and so we ended up with triple the amount of parsley in place of thyme by mistake. It was still super delicious. This is the salad that I will take to potlucks so I can get compliments. I agree with other reviews that a little cheese would make it extra special. I made it and ate it before reading the reviews and didn't think it was missing anything. Now that I know about the cheese idea, I'll be sure to try it next time.

Banana Stuffed French Toast

I took this to a potluck and it was a huge hit. I substituted orange marmalade for the orange liqueur. I forgot the confectioners sugar, even though I intended to use some, but it was sweet enough without it. I ran out of batter, so I had to make more. If I make it again, I will add a little cinnamon and the confectioners sugar. If I make it for a potluck, I may use a thinner French baguette. I used a regular French bread loaf and the servings were really big.

Green Bean and Mushroom Medley

It was super easy and delicious. It wasn't OMG delicious, but it is a good "safe" dish to make because basically everybody likes it. I took it to a party and every single person there had some. I think it was the only dish that appealed to everyone. It's not an attention getter, but it's a crowd pleaser.

Southwestern Egg Rolls

Huge hit!! I love when I get asked for a recipe at a party. I baked them instead of frying them. I'll probably make this a staple in my home. They can be made and frozen ahead of time, then put directly into the oven for an easy dinner during the week.

Bruschetta with Shallots

I didn't have fresh tomatoes, so I used (1) 14.5 oz can of diced tomatoes with jalapeno and (1) 10 oz can of diced tomato with green chili. I also didn't have fresh basil so I used about 1/6 cup of dried basil and then added about 1/2 cup of fresh chopped green onion to give it texture and color. I had a fresh shallot and fresh garlic and I think this would not have worked had I not had the fresh shallot and garlic. I toasted sourdough bread in the oven. My entire family devoured this.

Nikki's Creamy Crock Pot Potato Soup

I made this recipe almost exactly as written, with two exceptions. 1. I didn't add the bacon. I made this for a Lenten soup supper, which is a holiday where people don't eat meat. 2. I added more potatoes. It was a huge hit. It was one of the two most popular soups at the event. Yes, it was spicy; and that's why people liked it. I think I took a little longer to prep this dish than the 30 minutes suggested. I only used a crock pot. Unlike some of the other reviews, I didn't find a need to use the stove at all. I will definitely be making this soup again. It was a huge success.

Oatmeal and Applesauce Pancakes

I made it exactly to the recipe and these were easily the best pancakes I've ever made. Granted, I love oatmeal. I super love oatmeal. I like the suggestions of using buttermilk in place of milk, yogurt in place of sour cream, and cooking on low to medium heat to make sure you don't get raw middles. I'll definitely play around with the recipe a little, just for fun. I served with maple syrup, but will probably make baked cinnamon apples to put on top next time. A little applesauce or yogurt would go well on top, also. I was completely satisfied after two pancakes, even though I'm usually a pretty big eater.

Kielbasa with Brussels Sprouts in Mustard Cream Sauce

These were the best Brussels sprouts I've ever made; and we eat Brussels Sprouts on a very regular basis. They are one of our favorite foods. I took the time to make the shallot and garlic in the oven. It was ridiculously fast and easy, so there's no need to skip this step. It made the kitchen smell awesome. I used sour cream instead of heavy cream and butter beans instead of cannellini/white kidney beans. Next time I'll use the white kidney or Northern beans, but this time I used what I had. This was very good with cracked pepper on top.

Awesome Broccoli-Cheese Casserole

I've made this recipe numerous times with numerous variations. I use any canned cream soup on hand: cream of mushroom, cream of celery, cream of asparagus, etc. Then I add whatever vegetable I have on hand: broccoli, zucchini, yellow squash, mushrooms, etc. I top it with any cheese I have on hand. If I don't have mayonnaise, I use ranch dressing.

Yummy Honey Chicken Kabobs

I'm not a big fan of chicken to begin with. It was definitely good, but not exciting. I agree with other reviewers that say to marinade this as long as you can. It is very easy to make. It's a good choice for a potluck because there isn't anything bizarre or unusual for people not to like.

Potato, Ham, Broccoli and Cheese Soup with Baby Dumplings

I made this vegetarian by using vegetable broth and substituting a half bag of split peas for the ham. The peas made the soup really ugly, but if you can see passed ugly food, it was tasty. I made ham on the side for the non-vegetarians. It really needs the ham. Without the ham, it needs a lot more salt.
