I’ll give this recipe five stars because it’s a great starting point, but I did make some changes. I did use the nutmeg, allspice, and nutmeg as recommended in the description. I also only used 1½ cups sugar based on others’ reviews. The biggest change I made was to double the amount of all the spices. When I tried it using the amounts listed in the recipe I thought the chai flavor was pretty weak and was definitely overpowered by the sweetness of the sugar. I tossed it all back in the food processor and added a whole second round of spices, and after that it came out perfect. If you like a nice bold chai taste, I definitely recommend doubling all the spices.
