It's my 47th birthday. I had to do the math to determine how old I am today.

On Wednesday, December 11th I decided to eliminate sugar in our diet because:
  • It is the single best thing we can do for our health!
  • We want to clean up our diet
  • We want to drop a few pounds and maintain a brilliant body for life.
  • Increase our energy and feel fabulous!
  • Sleep better
  • Get the glow back in our skin.

We bought a vitamix blender for a lot of money today at Costco.
I bought all organic produce, bottled tomatoes,
quality virgin olive oil. The grocery bill was about $40
more than I thought it would be. Of course I'm wondering about whether
it's worth all the costs. There's only one way to find out.

We are going to do a 30 day sugar free, use the vitamix blender
once per day and exercise thirty minutes per day.

Starting tomorrow.

This will include a weekend getaway to Las Vegas.

Today I had a Tropic Tango Smoothie for a late breakfast, Two carne asada
tacos for lunch and tonight I was very conscientious about what I ate for
my birthday dinner. We had steamed rock fish and vegetable delight at
my favorite Chinese restaurant.

A good day of good choices except for including some type of exercise routine.

This is quite amazing, but my daughter and I decided to go sugarless on about that same day!!We are going to go low carb and cut out all the junk. I too bought a Vitamix-like blender, mine was called the Dash. I got it at Sam's Club. I have spent a small fortune on food, esp. kale, spinach, parsley, cukes, cacao powder, chia seeds, flaxseeds, vitamins, etc. etc. All for juicing and it's really been great. The first couple days I felt super tired, but today was better. I only had a couple juices all day and then tonight for dinner I added some zucchini that I broiled with butter and garlic salt, mmmmm. I just found this website and will be looking for low carb recipes and friends like you 2. Thanks for the tip on the Nutrition and Physical Degeneration book.

About Me
I like to consider myself a free spirit in a do gooder body. I've never been much of a cook, actually dread trying to come up with something for dinner each night.
My favorite things to cook
I don't have any favorite things at this time. Easy, healthy and quick are usually my recipes of choice.
My favorite family cooking traditions
The men in my family have always cooked. My dad and brother are fabulous in the kitchen.
My cooking triumphs
I brought home a blue ribbon from the Lane County fair this year in the plum preserves special categories using my Nana's recipe for an Asian / Hawaiian snack "prune mui". I called it dried plum mui because some people just don't like prunes. I have never canned before and out of the six jars, only four sealed properly. I only needed two for the fair. Fun, fabulous experience. I'm already thinking about what to make next year.
