Apple Coleslaw

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2014
Pretty tasty coleslaw. The honey was a bit odd to me but I added more mayo and vinegar to get more sauce and more zip and it reduced the honey taste. I didn't have pineapple juice.

Slow Cooker Italian Chicken Alfredo

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2014
Very easy to prepare. More accurately described as Chicken Stroganoff rather than Alfredo. I did as others suggested and chopped the chicken before adding the cream cheese & soup mixture. Probably a lot less messy that way. I used freshly sliced baby portobello mushrooms instead of canned mushrooms. Tasted delicious with some freshly ground pepper added to it.

Better Than Brad Pitt Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2005
This cake was good but nothing to rave about. Maybe I'm prejudiced because I think this cake is missing a major ingredient - chocolate! ;^) Seriously though, if you like vanilla you will probably really enjoy this cake.

Pork Tenderloin with Dijon Marsala Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2005
OMG this was delicious! I added baby bellas and a couple cloves of minced garlic as recommended by others. I can't say enough about how good this was and the friends I served it too agreed it was fabulous. I will definitely be making this again.

Beer Bread I

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2005
I added some grated cheddar cheese and diced jalapenos for a little extra kick. Pretty tasty and in all honesty I would probably give it 5 stars if I liked beer. ;^)I was looking for recipes to use up the Warsteiner beer my houseguest left behind when he went back to Germany. Thanks Jodi.

Cranberry Orange Loaf

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2005
I had left over dried cranberries so I used them instead of fresh cranberries. I also didn't use nuts since I have already baked so many things (for gifts) with nuts in them. I will bake these again.

Orange Cranberry Drops

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2005
These cookies are delicious. I don't know why others think they are unattractive(?). I used a melon baller (one of the handiest gadgets I have ever bought) and I think the cookies look just fine. :-) I drizzled an orange glaze on them which gave a nice finishing touch.

Eggnog Cookies I

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2005
I didn't care for these at all. I sprinkled powdered sugar and nutmeg on the top as suggested by another reviewer but they were still too bland and the flavor that they did have was unappealing to me.

Apple Dumplings I

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2005
I can't rate this exact recipe because I followed the changes recommended by some others. I can say that by doing so they turned out absolutely delicious. I used pie crust instead of biscuit dough, half white sugar and half brown sugar and orange juice instead of water. I also dipped the apples in the sauce before wrapping them. The friends I shared them with loved them.

Didn't change any ingredients or measurements. Baked for 30 minutes in muffin tins. Came out moist and delicious.

Double Layer Pumpkin Cheesecake

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2005
Wow, I can't believe my opinion is so different from the majority here. I can't even give this an average rating, let alone five stars. I love pumpkin pie and I love cheesecake; but NOT this one.

Easy Key Lime Pie I

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2004
I love key lime pie and when I saw key limes on sale in a local store I wondered if I could make a pie, so I was excited to find this recipe. I was very disappointed in the result. Waaaaaay too tart for me. It went in the garbage.

White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2004
I gave this 5 stars based on other people's reactions to it but I would give it 4 stars myself; it was very tasty despite my dislike of white chocolate, which says a lot. I read that some other reviewers didn't think the chocolate flavor was very noticeable but I thought it was quite prominent. This recipe was easy and divides perfectly into two ready made crusts for those of us who are not ambitious enough to make our own (or for those who don't have a springform pan). You just have to adjust your baking time.

Creamy Pear Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2004
Clearly I am in the minority, but if it was possible to give zero stars, that's what this recipe would get.

Irish Cream Chocolate Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2004
This was the first time I baked a cheesecake and it turned out great. The flavor and texture are excellent and everybody at work loved it. :-) There is not an obvious Irish Cream flavor, so if you want that, you will need to add more.

Christmas Breakfast Sausage Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2004
I don't know why this recipe got so many rave reviews. Different strokes I guess. :-) I did not care for it very much. I used hot sausage because I like spicy food. I am sure I would have only given it one star if I hadn't spiced it up a bit.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2004
I baked this cookie based on its 5 star rating and I was very disappointed. I don't understand why this recipe is getting such rave reviews. The cookie is very bland and dry. Do not make the mistake that I did in thinking that the "soft" in its name means "chewy". This cookie is definitely not chewy. The texture is not pleasing at all.

Slow Cooker Beef Stew I

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2004
This is a good recipe to start your stew with but as others did, I added a lot to it in order to give it more flavor (cheated and used a stew mix). Before doing so I thought it was very bland. I also added green beans and corn and would have added peas if I had had them in my pantry. I left out the paprika since I don't care for it. I imagine this will be tastier as leftovers after the flavors have soaked in. :-)

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2004
I did as others suggested and substituted a can of condensed cream of celery soup for one of the cream of chicken. I also added two cans of mixed vegetables shortly before putting the biscuits on top. I can't imagine how this could be considered a meal without the veggies. Even though I like salt, I thought this tasted very salty. I might try low sodium soups if I make this again. I also suggest cooking the biscuits at least one hour. I don't know the reason for the butter but I thought it gave a greasy feeling and probably would not use it again. The best thing about this recipe is that it is so easy to make; I did not find it to be more than mediocre in flavor though. Would probably be better with real dumplings.
