Frosted Banana Bars

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2009
YUM!! I didn't have sour cream so I used Vanilla Greek yogurt and then omitted the vanilla. Made my own cream cheese frosting: 1/2 c. butter, 1 8oz pkg cream cheese, 2 c. powdered sugar. Everyone (both kids and grownups, even my husband) loved them.

Mini Eggplant Pizzettes

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2006
I think these are good, but my family doesn't get too excited about them. I usually put the cheese on the eggplant first, then the sauce and meat so that it melts together and doesn't slide off.

Awesome Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2006
thanks a bunch for such a great idea! For an even quicker dinner, I've made these "open" (each slice of bread butter side down on the sheet) so that I don't have to turn them. I put ham or turkey on half the bread slices, cheese on the other half and then put them together after taking them out of the oven. I have also found that I can bake them at 350 or 375 with nice results. You could make a nice sandwich in your toaster oven using this recipe's technique. --super!

Candy Cane Cookies I

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2006
These tasted pretty much like I remember having when I was a kid. I used 1 cup of butter and no shortening to avoid hydrogenated oils and I think this made mine spread/flatten out a lot and made them more cakey rather than pastry-like in texture. (I mention this only as fyi for anyone else who prefers not to use shortening when baking) But they were yummy!

Quick and Easy Brownies

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2006
these were ok, but mine came out dry and not nearly as flavorful as brownies made with the recipe that comes on the box of unsweetened baking chocolate.

Excellent and EASY!!! I added some spices (cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg) and baked at 375 for 40 - 45 minutes. Came out perfect. Thanks for a great recipe.

Texas Chocolate Frosting

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2006
just what I was looking for. I didn't want to wait for butter to soften before making frosting, so this recipe was great. --thanks for sharing!

BBQ Steak

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2004
This recipe is so easy and sooooo good. I have made it twice and results were very tasty both times. I omitted the rosemary, used cider vinegar and didn't even bother processing the mixture in the blender, just threw the onion and garlic in with the sauce. Pierced the steaks all over with a fork to let the marinate soak into the meat overnight. --Yum!

Chicken Frittata

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2003
I have made this recipe twice and it was excellent both times. Lighter than the usual egg and sausage breakfast casseroles. Ham and asparagus worked well in place of chicken and broccoli. One hint I would offer when making this for the first time: I found that the amount of food that goes into this dish didn't fit in a medium size mixing bowl or baking dish as suggested in the recipe. I used a large mixing bowl and a 9x13 baking pan.
