Dave's Mocha Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2013
Great recipe for modification. I used a bit less soy sauce, Belgian beer in place of the sherry, added Siracha and a bit of sweet bbq sauce in addition to the brown sugar. My husband loved it. Had to cook it much longer than 30 minutes on the stovetop though. More like 50 minutes at a low simmer. Paired with ramen noodles with garlic and broccoli and sauteed in clam sauce and white wine. Stirred in a touch of sesame oil just before serving.

Indian Dahl with Spinach

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2006
this recipe is great but it does need modification. i followed others advice and carmalized the onions for 20 minutes. i used chicken stock instead of veggie and a bit more salt. next time i plan to use 3/4 of a pound of spinach.

Broccoli Stuffing

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2006
This was very oily on the bottom layers and overly crunchy on the top. Maybe if it were mixed together instead of the layering it would be much better.

Artichoke-Cheese Braids

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2006
I added about a half a head of minced roasted garlic. Next time I make this, I'll find some way to spice it up a bit more, even if it is with just a little extra garlic or garlic powder.

Rory's Most Wonderful Corn Bread

This was good enough but hardly over-the-top delish. I suggest using slightly less butter and adding a bit of cheddar cheese to the mix to give it more flavor.

Baked Whole Cauliflower

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2005
This tasted great but was a shamble of a dish. I microwaved with plastic wrap on top for 8 minutes whick kept the cauliflower in it's original form. I doubled the bread topping as previously suggested but tried to be frugal with the calories and cut the butter in half. I will try making this again as the presentation was lovely and the spices put a lively spin on a rather bland yet nutritious vegetable.

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2005
This is a super simple and tasty recipe. My only suggestion is -- instead of flipping and re-flipping the fish, turn once, add the topping and rotate the fish once or twice thereafter. The cooking time should be about 6-7 minutes total.

To keep this tasting fresh, leave the scallions out of the aluminum package and garnish the fish with them at the end.

Roasted Green Beans With Toasted Almonds

This was not my thing. The Chinese five spice did not accentuate the beans properly... it actual made them taste rather rank. I ate three beans total and threw the rest in the trash.

These are really fantastic for breakfast esp. if you are on Phase 1 of the South Beach Diet. Instead of a muffin pan, I used mini pie pans. I'm not freezing these because they are so great, they're gonna be gone FAST. PS) I eat mine cold.
