Ham and Split Pea Soup Recipe - A Great Soup
This recipe has potential, but I'd say the soup, as is, was just ok. First off, I'd recommend using reduced sodium chicken broth, and then adding salt as needed. Even though I didn't add any salt along the way, mine was still on the salty side. Felt that some more vegetables in the soup, perhaps carrots and/or potatos might improve flavor. Lastly, to make this a soup that would satisfy my pallet, I felt like more spices would be needed. I think I'll check out some other split pea soup recipes on this site to see what kind of spices people are using in their split pea soup recipes.

Banana Bread V
Felt like this recipe needed something. I think adding vanilla extract would help. Perhaps using some brown sugar in place of some of the white sugar would also help. However, I did like the moistness of the bread. Another banana bread recipe that I had previously tried was too dry. So, I added a couple of tablespoons of milk to that recipe. Problem solved.

German Potato Pancakes
A fairly tasty and simple recipe! I used a little less oil than called for, but otherwise made recipe exactly as written. Topped pancakes with sour cream, scallions, and apple sauce. If I were to make this recipe again (which I probably will), I think I would try using scallions in the batter, instead of raw onion, and would also try adding some additional spices. I also liked that this recipe is easy on the food budget. Ingredients are inexpensive.
