About this Cook
I have been cooking for my family since I was 8
My favorite things to cook
I always end up making one dish meals, becaue they have more ingredients
My favorite family cooking traditions
Meh. Maybe some day....
My cooking triumphs
The year that I was supposed to go to my moms for Thanksgiving, then weather prevented us from going at the last moment. My fiance and I stopped at a store since family thanksgiving was canceled, and I made an entire feast by myself for the first time. It was awesome! My almost mother in law loved the the leftovers, it came out so well.Yes, my mom had some too! And, the following superbowl feast will have to be my second biggest triumph, which I also did myself :). Hurray for happy accidents!
My cooking tragedies
Growing up in the military, my mom always bought the same cheep food for us. For 3 years, we ate pb&j every single bloody day. It's not that pb&j is terrible, but it was between that and the uber cheep yucky mac n cheese for dinner. Maybe that is why I started to cook so well.... Not that I am perfect. The worst thing I ever made was this barley soup. The recipe looked good, but made a lot of soup. It smelled good when it was being cooked, but when I ate it, it might as well have been cardboard and sawdust stew! Idky I never tasted it while cooking it; I must have been out of it or something. Gallons of soup, down the drain.....

Classic Rice Pilaf
I'm really loving you, Chef John! Followed exactly. Was perfect, massively tasty! To the idiot who gave this 3 stars, you should try the recipe properly before rejecting it. I used basmati rice, cause that's what I had. It usually uses more water, but I did not deviate and it's perfect.

Spicy Fish Tacos with Fresh Lime Sauce
Sooooo good! I don't like the Baja kind, so really happy with this. Also, I was able to freeze this (sauce separate from fish, add tomatoes later). Great freezer meal!

Mocha Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins
And I quote "Wow. (Nomnomnom) Wow. Um, this is reeeeeaaaaly goooood. (Nomnomnom)" Yeah. Thank you for giving my failed chocolate banana popsicles another go before I trashed them! Aside from the chocolate in the bananas, and reducing the sugar a little, I followed to a T. Thank you! And her mom!
