Sloppy Joe Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2009
Good sloppy joe recipe. This may sound silly, but I serve this over a little bit of mashed potatoes shaped in a mound, like a mountain, smush the top down with a spoon to make a well and then fill with sloppy joe mixture and run it down the side. We call them volcanos. I add little bits of broccoli to look like trees. My kids like it and they eat it.

Ragu® Pizza Burgers

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2009
This was good. My five and two year olds ate it all and my husband liked it too. I didn't add the sauce to the top of the burger at the end. Just mixed the 1/2 cup of sauce and cheese in the beef and then topped with remaining cheese at the end. Good recipe.

Bar Cookies from Cake Mix

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2009
Oooohhhh!! I used yellow cake mix. I added about a 1/2 cup peanut butter to the brown sugar and butter while mixing. Also added a splash of vanilla extract and a splash of oil on top of 4 TBSP water. Baked for 23 minutes and it's perfect. Yummmm.... Thanks for the recipe.

World's Best Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2009
The dressing should be bottled and sold it's that good. I bet it would even be good on pasta salad! I didn't use all of the egg mixture in the mayonaise, I just blended half of it in for our taste. I think, for us, it would have been too sweet with all of it. Thanks! I love it!

Husband says it's the best pot roast he's ever had. Followed the directions exactly. Roasted vegetables on the side. Very good.

Banana Chocolate Chip Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2008
I made this into banana / chocolate chip bread. Greased a loaf pan and baked at 350 for 60 - 65 minutes. Very good. Used two ripe banana's. Baking soda insdead of powder. Didn't have any vanilla extract and it tasted just fine without it,, although I would have added it if I had it. Kid friendly.. two 5 year olds helped me make.

Bob's Awesome Lasagna

This was okay but nothing spectacular. I've made better lasagna's. It was very easy to make so it's worth it if you don't have the time.

Shepherd's Pie VI

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2007
Delicious shepherds pie. I added two tablespoons ketchup and one tablespoon worcheshire sauce. It tasted a little bland in the end, so next time I'll add more of the worcheshire sauce to give it more of a kick. Also used a bag of frozen mixed veggies instead of the carrots. I thought the beef broth made an excellent sauce. Thanks!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2006
Apple pie is my husbands favorite and I've made this pie about ten times over the past year. The recipe is perfect as is. Sometimes I pour half the sugar glaze on top of the apples before putting the lattice on and then brushing the top with the rest. This recipe is the one that's requested and has taken over my husbands "family" recipe.

Fourth of July Ice Cream Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2006
WOW! What an awesome cake! Mine did not come close to looking as pretty as that picture but it doesn't really matter. This is very simple to make. I had a little bit of a problem getting the right consistency when layering the ice cream. My ice cream seemed to thaw too much and run when layering. DON'T WORRY if it looks messy while layering. I found if it gets too runny, throw it in the freezer. The frosting will cover the messiness up. I used strawberry and chocolate ice cream and also bought some hot fudge and spread it over the top layer of the cake before frosting. My family loved this and I got rave reviews. Thanks!

Chocolate Turtle Cheesecake I

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2006
Mmmmm... So good. My family loved this. It wasn't as thick as I thought it would be but that could be because my mixer broke and I had to mix by hand. I also decided I'd garnish the top with chocolate chips. Without thinking, I threw some on top after removing from the oven. The chips melted and didn't look very good;so I discovered by using the back of a spoon and spreading them it created a thin, delicious chocolate glaze on the top. Yummm...

It's Chili by George!!

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2006
Good chili! We like sausage in ours so I used a pound and a half of beef and then removed the casing off of 3 or 4 sausages. Then I browned the beef and sausage together and added. Like others, I also subbed two big cans of whole peeled tomatos versus the tomato juice listed. I scaled down the chili spice a little so our two year old son could enjoy also. Very good! Thanks George!

Clark's Quiche

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2006
Delicious! I didn't bother with olive oil for sauteing the onions and just threw them in the same pan after I cooked and removed the bacon. Omitted the mushrooms for our taste. Very pretty presentation and tasty! Thanks!

Baked Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2006
Hmmm.. This didn't come out good at all. Clumpy and the consistency wasn't what I was looking for. Mine didn't turn out like the picture at all and I followed the recipe to a T. There are better mac and cheese recipes out there. I think maybe the extra steps/ingredients in other recipes is worth it. Thanks anyway, it was worth a try.

Swiss Enchiladas

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2006
I boiled the chicken and then cut into cubes. I couldn't find the salsa listed on the recipe so I used tomitillo salsa instead and also used the whole can of green chilis. This recipe came out really good.

Fish Tacos

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2005
I thought these were good. Worth a try. They were not what I was expecting though.. the sauce was good but lacking something. My hubby liked them a lot since he too grew up in Southern CA. I loved the beer batter method of frying and would have been just as happy to slap the fish after frying on a roll with tartar sauce.
