About this Cook
I'm a mom of 2 grown sons, (who both cook well!)work full time as a Home Delivered Meals Coordinator for a municipality and love to feed people.
My favorite things to cook
I like to try recipes from ethnicities other than my own. And I love cooking from scratch whenever I can.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every Christmas our family picks a different ethnic culture and prepares the food from that culture. Since we're all a bunch of foodies, we have a really good time with it. Homemade tamales was a riot.
My cooking triumphs
There have been a few, my first buche de noel cake was very satisfying.
My cooking tragedies
Serving an all organic, homegrown vegetarian dinner, including a platter of steamed, broccoli to my in-laws - including the aphids. (It was long time ago and I was very young.) I have since learned to soak broccoli in a little salted water for a few minutes - just in case.

Cream of Coconut Cake
I've made this cake twice, most recently using a chocolate cake mix and coconut milk instead of cream of coconut. SUBSTITUTE COCONUT EXTRACT FOR THE VANILLA!It comes out beautifully no matter what substitutions I made. I made it in a bundt cake pan and split it and filled and frosted it. It made a really pretty presentation.

Moroccan Ksra
This bread was easy to make, but I don't know how it can be said to make 16 servings! I added dried onions bits and caraway seeds to the top and caraway seeds instead of anise seeds in the dough. It was heavier and denser than I expected, so I don't think I'd make it again.

Ninety Minute Cinnamon Rolls
I had a problem getting these rolls to rise. They stayed pretty flat. They tasted pretty good but weren't as tender a dough as I'd like and if you are hoping for a puffy, light cinnamon roll - this isn't it.
