Leftover is such a dirty word, so filled with negative connotations. Rarely do I eat something and then want it again in a short period of time. I'm picky like that. My husband is pretty similar in that regard.  So the challenge is to dress up leftovers and change them around so it feels like… MORE

About this Cook
I am a complete food lover...from where it comes from, the preparation, the secret ingredients, the smells, the flavors, the presentation...I love learning everything I can about the ingredients, the history of the dish, the significance of a region's cuisine. Food is something that informs you about a person, about their culture, and is something that brings people together. There is nothing better than sitting around a table with people that you love, sharing a meal together.
My favorite things to cook
I am Midwestern, through and through, so I know my way around a casserole :) However, my family's roots are Southern, and from my travels I have picked up some great ethnic dishes. I do admit, my favorite recipes are the ones that I can remember cooking with my mother...from fried potatoes, biscuits and gravy, to the way that she made's not just the flavor, it's the feeling of home.
My favorite family cooking traditions
When I was younger, my family began letting us kids take turns helping out in the kitchen to create dinner. I used to love this chore, the alone time I got with Mom, and the pride I would feel when the rest of the family liked my meal.
My cooking triumphs
Last Thanksgiving was my first one as a wife, and on my own making Thanksgiving dinner...the turkey was something that I researched and talked to EVERYONE about to get advice and tips...there are so many schools of thought out there, and without real experience, I picked the one that I thought was closest to the way my family used to do it...and it turned out great!
My cooking tragedies
I have so many failures, as I love to try new things, but my biggest one was an eggplant parmesan. I don't know eggplant very well...and I followed a recipe to the T...but it was a mushy, disgusting mess! My husband said it was like eating snot, and now we can't eat eggplant for fear of that awful texture!

Traditional White Bread
I got a kitchenaid for Christmas, and had been trying to bake a decent loaf of bread for a month! Living in LA with its dry climate, along with my inexperience, has given me hard, dense loaves...thanks for the foolproof recipe, because it's exactly what I was looking for. If you follow the directions, you literally cannot mess this up!!!!
