Coconut Oatmeal Cookies I

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2010
Not bad, but a bit too sweet for my taste. There wasn't really anything special about these cookies, even though I LOVE coconut and I LOVE oatmeal cookies... I'm not sure what it is but they just tasted bleh to me. Will not make again.

Crackle Top Molasses Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2010
Possibly my favorite cookie to bake so far. Used half brown sugar/white sugar. AMAZING! In order to make the flattened look, I rolled it into a ball first, rolled it in sugar, and flattened it with my palm. Then I sprinkled on some more sugar to give it a "sparkly" look.

Stuffed Peppers with Turkey and Vegetables

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2010
WOW. What an amazing dish! I used an entire onion, and cooked the turkey with italian seasoning/garlic salt/salt & pepper first. Make sure to over-season your turkey because the taste will die down after you add it to everything else! In the beginning, my turkey tasted WAY too salty (by itself) and I was definitely worried. However, after adding it to the veggie mix and adding the tomatoes/paste (2+ Tb of paste!) it tasted fantastic. I couldn't stop eating them even before putting it in the peppers... I also used red peppers because they looked prettier, but I think for next time I'll use green because red peppers ended up a bit too tangy for such a dish. When I was cooking the veggies, I also made sure that they were all fully cooked before putting the turkey back in.

Chicken Marsala

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2010
Interesting, I've never had Marsala anything before so this was definitely a first for me. Didn't bother with Sherry, just used 3/4c of Marsala. I thickened the sauce with 1Tbsp cornstarch+1Tbsp water. It's not bad, but I didn't fall in love with it.

Orzo with Parmesan and Basil

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2010
A dash of pepper and salt at the end is a must, but other than that, it was fantastic! Will make again :) It definitely wasn't "too cheesy" either, and I will try to make it with mushrooms next time.

Baked Pineapple II

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2010
No need to change anything! Tastes great :) I only had frozen bread so I was worried that instead of soft bread cubes I'd have toast cubes (I toasted the bread first of course), but it worked fine.

Cow Pies

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2010
Pretty delicious. I'm not sure if the shortening is that much needed other than making it shiny-er though. I do agree with the fact that it melts a little too quickly (probably due to the shortening). Make sure you use good quality chocolate!

Melt - In - Your - Mouth Shortbread

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2010
It crumbles too quickly in your mouth, which I didn't like very much, but if you're a big fan of shortbread, I suggest you try this recipe. I piped it with a ziploc bag to get the amount I want per cookie, and then formed a ball with my hands, and pressed them down on the baking sheet. It seemed to work fine. I baked it for 10 min.

Chocolate Almond Bark

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2010
I used sliced almonds because that was all I had. I had to do toast two batches of almonds because the first one burnt fairly quickly. As for the chocolate, I used regular nestle milk chocolate chips, so it wasn't amazingly delicious, but it wasn't bad at all either. I didn't like the fact that it cannot stand room temperature for more than 10 min without becoming soft. I think if I were to make it again, I would use a better quality chocolate because that's pretty much all I can taste.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2009
Absolutely DELICIOUS. Substituted butter for margarine. I rarely repeat cookie recipes (I always want to try new things), but I think I will have to for this one. I also flattened with my palm.

White Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2009
Delicious, but a little too sweet for me. Next time I will half the white sugar. It was also difficult to form dough. Seemed too dry, but cookie was still good. Thanks!

Honey Wheat Bread I

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2009
Delicious! I would up the honey, and make sure to butter it with unsalted butter after taking it out of the oven. I would also suggest another half hour on the second rise. I put both my loaves in the oven at 170 degrees (lowest it can go) for the second rise.

Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2009
Same with everyone else, I upped the flour to 1 3/4 c, baking soda to 1 tsp, and cut the salt to 1/2 tsp. When it's first out of the oven, it looks uncooked. Don't be fooled! When I roll my dough into balls they form a fuller cookie.

Easy Morning Glory Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2009
These were alright.. I normally rave about all muffins but this recipe just didn't do it for me. Like most, I halved the oil, substituting it with apple sauce. I also added extra cinnamon, and substituted oats for the coconuts. Used 3/4c white sugar, 1/4c brown. They weren't bad, but I've had better.

SO QUICK & EASY! I love it. I halved the recipe, doubled the cinnamon and added 1/2 tsp of vanilla. FANTASTIC! Honestly, I feel like any type of apples I use will be good.

Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2009
Delicious! NOTE: The shortening makes it shiny! If you are eating it for yourself, don't bother. However, if you are presenting it or giving it to someone, add in the shortening - it does make a difference! ALSO: If using white chocolate, DO NOT add shortening. Also do it in small amount multiple times, because it solidifies so much quicker than normal chocolate.

Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2009
VERY DELICIOUS! Nice and moist. Like others have said, I mashed my bananas. However, I think I will try slicing them next time because I'm never able to get that distinct banana taste. Will review again later.
