Best Bread Machine Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2015
Excellent recipe, I sub avocado oil (1/3 cup) and honey, molasses or maple syrup for the sugar. Also I will throw in a tbsp or 2 of red river cereal for multigrain, and will throw in half a tbsp of bran for extra Fibre. Any more than that and you can "tell it's healthy". At our house we're into trickery with healthy things. Avocado oil is available from Costco. It's better for our hair, skin and nails and you can't tell the difference. I take it out of my bread maker to rise in a lightly warmed oven for 20 minutes until more than doubled then leave it in while I turn on the oven to 350. Bake until brown and loaf sounds hollow when you tap it. I get a perfect loaf every time. Also, I use plain, ordinary flour either whole wheat or white, not bread flour and I get perfect bread.

Cinnamon Hazelnut Biscotti

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2013
This is a fabulous recipe! I doubled the recipe and added an extra teaspoon of cinnamon and then drizzled them with white chocolate with a half teaspoon of cinnamon mixed in. These were a definite repeat!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2013
I am an avid baker and I have made 3 pies using the exact recipe. It was a soggy mess each time. I finally made my usual apple pie, tossing the apples in 2 tablespoons of flour first and poured half the carmel on the apples, put the lattice on and poured the other half on top. Much better. Flavour was great, but the soggy was a definite no repeat.

Butternut Squash Soup II

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2013
This was ok. Very flat so I had to doctor it with some dill, garlic and sour cream. My daughter cried and said it was "asgusting, gross soup". We love butternut squash but this is not a remake for our house.

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2013
This has become a staple add on for homemade soup days. We use cookie cutters and make shaped biscuits though. No ordinary circles in our house! ;-) takes 5 min to make, they're in the oven in about 7 minutes. Can't beat that! Sometimes I throw different herbs in too. Tops are great with a little water brushed on and coarse salt sprinkled. Super easy!

Chef John's Pumpkin Scones

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2013
This is an amazing recipe! The kind you can't stop eating...I literally covered the top with cinnamon and sugar and put chopped dates and a handful of raisons in the scone. When I rolled it, I mixed sugar into the flour as I don't like flour coated scones. Definitely a remake in my house! Next time though, I'll top with cinnamon and course raw sugar

Iced Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2013
Fabulous recipe! Nice soft cookie. I used a teaspoon instead to drop the cookies, the tablespoon created huge cookies. Definitely a remake in our house
