Sigh.

Well....make that a big sigh.

Hubs is deploying again. Short notice. Unexpected....and sucks to say the least. We are having our housewarming party this weekend (welcome to the area, nice to meet you, see you in half a year). BAH.

But anyway....this is my first time living on the West Coast. And NFL games start....at 10 am. 10 am! Its crazy! We now have to do football brunch/breakfasts instead of the normal late afternoon stuff your face snacks.

And oh yeah, Im still on a diet.

So far here is our menu:

Husbands Sausage Gravy (which actually isnt that bad because he adds chopped mushrooms and uses skim milk)
Buttermilk biscuits from scratch (no canned biscuits allowed in my house per husbands orders)
Fruit salad/tray
Mimosa/Bloody Mary's 
Kolaches or pigs in a blanket
little smokies wrapped in bacon
monkey bread.

But wait...that covers the morning game. what the afternoon one that starts at oh say 2? This means I will have to segway into a new menu...so more cooking and planning.

Afternoon Menu:
Chili/Pepperoncini Beef or whatever else. It is currently in debate between us. Whatever it is, it needs to be freezable because I know people wont eat as much as I think they will!
Veggies (yeah I can eat those!)
Pinwheels (mmm.....pinwheels)
Dip (oh dips.....I love you)
cupcakes/cake pops/ or cookies 
homemade pretzels (because they are the bomb)
chips
jalapeno popper dip

Thus is my football menu.

And my sadness that its probably the last party Ill get to throw with the hubs before he leaves. the NFL is cool because they let military members stationed overseas watch games online for free. :) This means the hubs can watch the Broncos....hopefully win a few. Im still mad about last weeks loss. But I guess that means the players will be too!

And it looks like I will have to drink a light beer (coors light....I grew up in Colorado so I can say that I can taste the Colorado water in it). But I want a full Belgium lambic. Oooh...add that to my menu

And about 6 hours of cardio :)

Oh man, that is no fun at all. Thank you and DH, of course, for your sacrifices. I am so glad I don't follow football and my males have all moved to their own homes. I would weigh about 600 lbs if I ate my way through all the games!

I know! Football snacks are so bad for the waistline. Im going to have to make sure I watch what I eat! :)

About Me
I'm a military wife just living it up around the world. My husband and I prefer to eat at home rather than go out. Too many times have we gone somewhere only to look at each other and say "we could make this better at home." I hate chain restaurants....everything is salty, huge and fatty.
My favorite things to cook
Pizza! Breads! Anything Italian...or Japanese for that matter. I love to cook anything that tastes good and doesn't take 5 hours. And I like to find new ways to eat vegetables. Its tough living in Texas were coleslaw is considered a vegetable!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Pierogis for Christmas and Easter. Fresh from scratch lasagne on Christmas Eve. Waffles, muffins.........my husband makes the most delicious Mabo Tofu and fried rice. I could eat bowls and bowls of it.
My cooking triumphs
Getting my husband to like tofu. He loves it now. It cracks me up because he used to refer to it as "bad chicken" in stir frys. I think trying to eat vegan every now and then is good too. Its opened my mind to a whole new way to approach food :)
My cooking tragedies
Ive made a few revolting soups. Totally inedible. Ok. Ive made a LOT of revolting soups. My poor husband. I keep trying new recipes but there is only a few that have been edible. Ive messed up pretty much everything there is to think of.
