Breakfast Strata

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2013
I made this last week as a rehearsal for Christmas morning, unfortunately we thought it was just ok. We found it to be way too bland for our taste, even though I added extra salt, pepper and some paprika. I won't make this again.

Spiced Pot Roast

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2011
I followed the recipe exactly and the meat came out lovely and tender. We like curry, but this sauce had a very strange taste. I ended up making some instant gravy to have the meat. Would not make this again.

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2011
This the best roast chicken I have ever made, so moist and tasty. The only thing I did differently was roast the chicken breast side down for the first hour and a half, then flipped over. The breast stayed nice and moist and the skin crisped well.

Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2010
This soup turned out great - very tasty. I wasn't sure whether the recipe meant red or green lentils, so I just used green. Would it have made much of a difference? I'm not sure as I have not cooked with lentils before. I only added half of the tomatoes as the 3 1/2 cups seemed too much for our taste. Thank you.

Slow Cooker Oatmeal

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2007
I too had to play with this recipe. The first time I made it, it stuck to the sides of the cooker and was too thick. It must depend a on the type of cooker you have. What works for me is 4 cups of water (or 2 cups milk and 2 cups water), 2 cups of oatmeal. Cook on "keep warm" for 8-10 hours. Sometimes I add raisins, cinnamon and brown sugar.

Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2006
I found this recipe way too bland, even though I used beef broth instead of water. I had to spice it a lot to make it edible.

Tasty Tender Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2004
This is an excellent recipe. The first time I made exactly as the recipe stated, however I have found it to be a little too sweet for my taste. Now whenever I make this, I reduce the amountof honey in half, add two tablespoons each of chilli sauce and balsamic vinegar and 1 cup of chicken broth. Makes a wonderful sauce.

Italian Sausage Soup with Tortellini

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2004
Fantastic recipe. I too used hot italian sausage. I cut the sausage into small chunks, browned in pan, drained off the fat, then ground up using a potato masher. I used Campbell's Beef Broth and did not find this too salty at all. The second time I made this, I used green beans instead of zuchinni and macaroni instead of tortellini and we liked this version even better. This is now a family favourite.
