Strawberry Cake from Scratch

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2014
This cake was great. I followed others suggestions about using only the egg whites from the eggs and adding them into the mixture at the very end. I also used fresh strawberry that I put into the freezer a couple hours before. When watching the video it said if you use fresh strawberries to add sugar to them a few hours before. I did not add sugar to the fresh strawberries and I would not recommend it. The cake was sweet enough. It only took a little slice to hit the spot. I will definitely make again but I think next time I may try adding a little less sugar. I used some of the leftover puree in between the layers of cake. I baked at 350 for 35 minutes. Just check the cake after 20 minutes. If it's not done check it every 5 minute after till tooth pick comes out clean.

General Tsao's Chicken II

Reviewed: May 28, 2014
This was really really good. I like extra sauce so I doubled the sauce ingredients with the exception of the red peppers. I used 9 Chile de arbol dry red pepper instead of 12 and removed the seeds because I was worried it would be to hot for my 3yr old & 7yr old. It was great. It had a small amount of spicy to it but nothing that bothered my picky eaters. They actually enjoyed it. If you like spice I would recommend using at least the number of peppers this recipe calls for and if your doubling the sauce too also double the peppers. I'm still not sure if your suppose to remove the seeds though.

Perfect Sesame Chicken

Reviewed: May 28, 2014
This was delicious. To cut down on fat I followed another reviewers advice and baked the chicken instead of frying. I followed all the steps except putting the chicken in oil to fry.I baked the marinated chicken at 375 for 35 minutes. I didn't have chili paste so I sprinkled some cayenne pepper instead. I also did not add sherry because I didn't have any. I doubled the sauce recipe because I love extra sauce. Their were plenty of leftovers.

Last Minute Mushrooms

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2014
This was my first time cooking mushrooms and it was very good with a few additions. I gave it a 4 with recipe as is and a 5 with the additions I added from a few comments. I added a little olive oil to the butter. Half way through cooking I added a garlic clove, a splash of worcestershire sauce, a splash of white cooking wine. As someone said added the seasoning salt to soon will dry the mushrooms out so I added the seasoning salt right before it finished cooking. I also took someones advice and made sure the mushroom got browned. Actually some of mine were a little black in some spots, but this was delicious. I will definitely make this again. Very simple and quick even with the additions.
