Oatmeal Chocolate Coconut Chewy

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2013
Yummy. Really enjoyed this cookie. I made only one substitution and used pecans instead of walnuts because I like pecans much better. I only got about 3 dozen out of the batch - probably because I made the cookies too big but that's all good. This is definitely a keeper and I will probably make some modifications like other here - a little less sugar, toffee, etc, just to mix it up.

PHILADELPHIA Marble Brownies

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2013
*sigh* I tried. I don't know what it is. I admit it was my first time making brownies - I think. I picked one of the boxed brownies at the store. It turns out I picked the 18 oz and not the 19.8 oz. I don't know if that has anything to do with it but it just wouldn't bake all the way. I thought since it's a smaller box maybe it would bake faster. Not the case. I had it in the oven for 50 minutes and the middle was still wet. I didn't want to keep it in the oven longer because I was worried that the edges were going to be like a brick. Maybe I should have kept it in there longer. The flavor tasted fine - the brownie part the cheesecake part and the swirled part. It just didn't bake all the way through. I'm not sure I would try this again.

Guacamole

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2013
We really like this recipe. It's quick and easy to make. I've made it with and without garlic or cilantro (ran out), yellow onions and red onions. The amount of salt and lime is just fine as well. If I want the guacamole more thick, I seed the tomatoes. If I want it a little more thin, I keep the seeds.

Monkey Bread I

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2013
First, this was very good. I only used half the amount of sugar and cinnamon for the coating only because I didn't think I needed all of it and it ended up being the perfect amount and I didn't have to throw out any of the sugar mix. I like pecans better than walnuts so I subbed that. I used 3 cans of the Pillsbury biscuit dough because I didn't have the fridge biscuit dough (and should not have). Half way through coating the biscuits I realized that it might not all fit. Needless to say, it baked and puffed over the pan and some of the glaze even oozed out. Luckily I put a baking sheet underneath so it caught it. I thought about squeezing the biscuits into the pan but was worried that the glaze wouldn't get through. Mine also did not come out of the pan easily even though I greased it. Despite all that, it came out yummy and I will definitely make this again - but with 2 biscuit roll things or find the refrigerated biscuit dough.

Best Black Beans

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2013
I thought this was ok. It was definitely easy to make and very quick, although I had to cook mine a little longer to get the onions cooked a little more. I think this had a little too much onions though. If I make this again, I'll have to cut back on the onions.

Spanish Rice II

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2013
Sorry, this recipe just didn't work for me. It ended up coming out soggy and mushy. There was just way too much liquid. Maybe I'm not using the right type of rice? It just says white rice and the one I used must not have been the right kind. The flavors seemed fine but I'm not sure if I'll try this recipe again.

Key Lime Pie VII

Reviewed: May 31, 2013
Very good pie. I've made this two times, once with the zest and once without the zest and it turns out good either way. I always end up having a portion of a can of condensed milk left over so next time I'll cut back on the condensed milk just enough for 2 cans and cut back a little of the juice to balance out with the condensed milk. I love that it's so easy to make.

Strawberry Jam

Reviewed: May 31, 2013
This was my first time making jam and I didn't really have all of the proper tools for canning so I improvised and just used any of the jars I had available and that was just fine. Overall I think the jam came out good. I wanted to try a jam recipe that didn't require pectin and this one was very easy to make. I think it was a little too sweet for my taste so next time I might cut back the sugar a little bit. I took the suggestion from another person to put the strawberries in a blender to mash. Also it took a lot longer to cook. Maybe I did something wrong? Either way it turned out fine.

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: May 31, 2013
First, I've never had beef stroganoff so I don't really know what it's supposed to be like. My husband seems to like it just fine. But I don't know what it is, this recipe doesn't seem to work well for me. It always seems to come out a little dry for me. The meat is fine and the flavors seem fine but it is not very saucy? I've tried using beef broth for more flavor and I've increased the amount of water/broth and it still seems to come out a little dry. Maybe it's my crock pot? But the other things I make with the crock pot comes out fine. I don't know. I'll still make it since my husband likes it and it's easy to make.

Delicious Raspberry Oatmeal Cookie Bars

Reviewed: May 31, 2013
I've made this several times. I'm not a fan of raspberries so I subbed the raspberry jam for my homemade strawberry jam or something else I have on hand and it's just as good. It's quick and easy to make. Next time I might consider what some other reviewers did and sub it for other ingredients to make them a little "healthier".

Blueberry Crumb Bars

Reviewed: May 29, 2013
Very good recipe. My husband loves blueberries and he couldn't wait to eat this. In fact he ate it warm so it was kind of like a blueberry crumble or cobbler. He's already had a few pieces and it hasn't even cooled. I did make modifications to the recipe only because I had about 3 cups of blueberries. I halved the recipe and modified the filling for so the blueberries didn't go to waste. This might have been too much blueberries for my personal taste but not my husband. This was a quick and easy treat to make. I would definitely make this again.
