Spicy Three Pepper Hummus

Reviewed: May 1, 2007
Technically, mine was Spicy "Two" Pepper Hummus as I got halfway through making it and realized I was out of jalapenos! (A rarity in my house!) But it still turned out great and was very spicy! Like many of the other reviews, I needed to add more liquid so I switched off water & EVOO until I got the right consistency. I also felt it needed more cumin so I added (roughly) another 1/2 tsp. The first time I ever had hummus was in Jerusalem, so I guess I'm kind of a hummus snob. Store bought just dosen't cut it! This recipe was a great spicy version!

Moroccan Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2007
I agree with the other reviews as far as flavor ~ it was very good. I didn't give it 5 stars because there are a few things that it needs, one on which is salt. I usually do not salt my food, but even with all of the spices (and kick from the cayenne!) it was missing something. I added fresh ground sea salt & a couple of shakes of garlic powder. Also, I would triple the amount of lentils as its really more of a vegtable soup than a lentil soup. And last but not least - pureeing is a must if you want thick soup. It's annoying but worth it!

Apricot Noodle Kugel

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2007
This recipe was good, although I had to change it a bit because my Walmart does not carry apricot nectar. (I used peach instead.) I will leave out the raisins next time and I think I'll add more sugar to make it a bit sweeter. Also, I mixed the noodle mixture the night before and added the topping the next day just before I cooked it. This worked perfectly - although I added a few more minutes to the baking time. I brought it to a Seder a few nights ago and several people commented on how good it was. Over all, it turned out good ~ one of the better kugel recipes that I have tried.

Michelle's Famous Washed Cranberry Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2006
This is as good as any homemade cranberry recipe I have tried! I added 1 Tsp orange zest, but cut back on the water (1st time I made it was too thin.) The mixture of sugars does really well. Usually a little bit of cranberry sauce goes a long way, but this year there were no leftovers! Wow.

Pumpkin Cheese Bread II

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2006
Really, I'm just going to echo all of the other reviews. It was fantastic! Very moist, and I loved the orange zest!I made it twice (once with pecans, once without) and brought to my office as well as my husband's office. It got great reviews and several people at both offices asked for the recipe. It made it to the big leagues...I'm going to bring it to Thanksgiving dinner at my mom's! Thank you Tina!

Potatoes Supreme

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2006
This was delicious! I used a can of cream of chicken & mushroom (because that is what I had!) It came out great. I also sauteed chopped onion & a bit of minced garlic...my husband and I decided it was too much. Didn't even need it! Next time I will make it as directed. Thanks for the great recipe!

Pumpkin Cookies I

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2006
They sure lived up to the "moist" title. I was greatful to find an egg-less recipe - as I had run out. I added semisweet choco chips and omitted the butterscotch. They were good, but not great. Interesting to note that on the second batch I added a tiny bit of nutmeg to give it a boost. Bad idea!

Puffed Cauliflower Cheese

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2006
I am giving this only three stars, BUT I think next time it will be 5 strong stars. The flavor was fantastic, really worked well together. I took the advise of the other reviewers and added sauteed onions. I somehow skipped the part that says cook cauliflower first (I kept thinking, gosh that's wierd!) It turned out raw (eek!) I will definately make this again...correctly! Maybe with broccoli...?

Boiled Peanuts

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2006
Ahhh, good ole' boiled peanuts! Yum! This is another Yankee girl who loves them. The owner of the local produce market here told me to use green peanuts. Great recipe. **UPDATE** My source at the local produce market also told me that you can freeze uncooked green peanuts for up to three months before you boil them. I tried it and it turned out beautifully...I just made sure they were completely thawed before I boiled them.

Red-Skinned Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2005
These were fantastic! We used the leftovers for potato pancakes the next morning. Added 1 egg & 1/4 cup flour with 4 cups of potatos & fry. Absolutely fabulous! ***UPDATE*** I have made these several times since my initial review. I have to say that they are not completely foolproof. Although still delicious, a few times they turned out gummy. I'm not sure what causes this sometimes & not others. The potatoes maybe?

St. Louis Toasted Ravioli

This was a hit. My boyfriend is from St. Louis and he loved it! I thawed the ravioli almost completely, and I used a deep fryer. Will make this again!

Acapulco Margarita Grouper

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2004
This recipe is wonderful!! I substituted Pacific Basa for the grouper, and added a bit more garlic. I am very happy to discover a healthy fish recipe that dosen't taste "fishy!"

I put this on the menu at a Mexican themed dinner party. It was not a big hit. Wouldn't make this one again.
