Chinese Chicken Fried Rice II

Mmmmm this was good! Only reason I knocked off 1 star is because it doesn't really taste like restaurant fried rice, but it's good in its own right.

Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken

This was really good...here's what I did: I used the sauce as a marinade for about 4 hours. Then I dredged the chicken (I used boneless/skinless thighs) in flour, whole (didn't chop into strips). I seared them about a minute a side in hot olive oil, then turned the heat down to low, covered them, and let them cook 4 minutes. Then I flipped them, poured a little Yoshida's on top, and let them cook another 4 minutes, covered. They were REALLY GOOD.

Yummylicious Japanese Beef Croquettes

My suggestions: 1. Fully caramelize the onions 2. Mix ground beef with seasoning, such as pinch of salt, steak seasoning, garlic powder, parsley 3. Cook ground beef with onions 4. Mix together with the mashed potatoes and season to taste. 5. No need to dredge in flour first, just dip in egg then panko. 6. Don't make the croquettes too large or too thin or they will not hold together. Finally, I baked these on a cooling rack, sprayed with butter to crisp them up. 400 until browned, about 20 mins.

Baked Chicken Nuggets

The Parmesan and the herbs tasted strange to me...the sharpness of the cheese and the somewhat bitterness of the herbs overpowered the chicken. The flavoring definitely needs tweaking.

Chicken Milano

I followed "Cookiequeen"'s suggestions and it turned out glarghglrlgh (ala Homer Simpson) ~ delicious! I skipped the fettuccini (too many calories) and served it with Penne with Garlicky Broccolini from this site (no need to cook it with the bacon, btw). Watch the salt, it doesn't really need any once you reduce the sauce. Very satisfying, would definitely satisfy a desire for Olive Garden.

Penne with Garlicky Broccolini

I skipped the bacon and just cooked the broccoli in a tbs of olive oil with some garlic, and that flavor + the parmesan cheese was plenty! No need for the extra calories :) I served this with Chicken Milano from this site instead of the fettuccini (cuts a lot of calories but still tons of taste).

Sweet Potato-Turkey Meatloaf

I thought the flavor with the sweet potato was very good but it was far too wet...it didn't hold together at all. I didn't add onions as I don't find that I like them in meatloaf, so with them I imagine it would be even more mushy. Perhaps next time it would be better to simply add the ketchup/bbqsauce/mustard on the top and not mixed in with the loaf. And use half the sweet potato. However I give it 4 stars because I think this has the potential to be a very good meatloaf with a few changes.

Mad Hatter Salad

I gave this 3 stars because I didn't find it all that wonderful...but, it also wasn't terrible. It was just...so-so. The recipe calls for a LOT of butter, so if you make this, I recommend halving it...but even considering that, it just was too weird to me. I thought it sounded like an odd mix of ingredients when I decided to make it but judging from the other reviews I thought it would come together differently.

Chicken Wild Rice Soup II

This turned out to be a great meal! I cooked it over low for about an hour, and made just a few minor tweaks...I used chicken thigh meat because it doesn't dry out like breast meat, and used a scoop of the quick cooking long grain/wild rice blend instead of pure wild rice. Also, I added a generous dose of Old Bay seasoning and a pinch of kosher salt. Anyways this soup was a big hit with my family!

Grandmother's Oatmeal Cookies

I am pleased with the way these cookies turned out. I did as another reviewer suggested and rolled them in cinnamon/sugar and they both look and taste very nice. I soaked the raisin mixture overnight and that seemed to turn out well. I used unsalted butter instead of shortening which was fine... Oh, if you don't like rich/sweet cookies, these probably aren't for you, but if you do, I think this recipe is worth a try. EDIT: The next day, these cookies were still soft and chewy. My husband says these are the best oatmeal cookies he's ever had, and he doesn't say that sort of thing lightly!

Sugar Cookies IV

Mmmm! Very good! I tried two other recipes before coming to this one, and they were both failures. The first was tasteless and hard as a rock, the second was better but too floury. This recipe however is wonderful. I think the confectioner's sugar and cream or tartar really did the trick. Good job!

Easy Sugar Cookies

This was a real whatever cookie. Not much taste, texture was lacking, but yeah, it was easy if thats what you're looking for. I tried this recipe because of the overwhelming positive reviewals, but after trying it, I can't fathom why it's so popular. I'll keep looking.
