This was the best crock pot meal I've ever tasted. I added lots of seasoning though: garlic powder, parsley, Bell's Seasoning (poultry mix), and pepper. Used one can of biscuits. Used 1 can cream/chicken and 1 cream/celery filled both cans w/ chick/stock and some more. During cooking I added a flour/water mix to thicken as I wanted more gravy.
My son went nuts for the dumpling part. Everyone loved the flavor and tenderness of the meat. Oh! I used a cut up fryer chicken instead, cutting out the rib cage & back bone. It's cheaper and is perfect when long cooked. Instead of shredding chicken I portioned the cut pieces and let the eaters shred on their plates. It IS the same recipe really, just added more seasoning. I will make this with breasts only for my elderly mother who will appreciate another way to have non-spicy chicken.
