Herbed Mushrooms with White Wine

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2011
Excellent recipe. I made it with crimini mushrooms for Thanksgiving dinner and everyone loved them. The smell of herbed, garlicky mushrooms is amazing!

Greek Avgolemono Chicken Soup

Super delicious. I like a lot of lemon, but if you are not a giant lemon fan 1-1.5 might be enough. Lots of black fresh cracked pepper is a must.

Corned Beef and Cabbage

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2011
The idea of cooking the corned beef in the slow cooker is a good one, and I liked the combination of cider vinegar and sugar as a base for the cabbage, but the end result was bland bland bland (except the meat which I bought pre-marinated). I didn't care for the carrots. I ended up taking some of the liquid, adding more cider vinegar S&P, boiling it and stewing the cabbage for 10 more minutes to give it some flavor. Next time I'll just cook potatoes and corned beef in the slow cooker and make cabbage separately.

Chicken and Red Wine Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2011
This is excellent over penne. I did reduce sugar a lot (to about 1 tbsp) and doubled the paprika. I also added a chopped red bell pepper a little bit of bacon to the sauce.

Kifta

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2011
I made the recipe as written and the meat came out really dry, even though tomatoes and onions released a bunch of liquid (which set on top). Overall the dish had a lot of heat but not a ton of flavor. I do not plan to make it again.

Cheese Fondue

Excellent recipe. I skipped nutmeg and salt (there is plenty of it already in the cheese).

Heavenly Zucchini Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2010
I liked the idea but not the proportions of this salad. I ended up using only zucchini and red onions for the salad, and keeping the dressing but with a lot less sugar and a bit more salt. It was very good.

Bread Pudding II

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2010
I was really looking forward to trying this recipe out and came away disappointed. I followed the recipe as written and it turned into a dense, blandish french toast. I used sweet challah, so this shouldn't be the reason. It's edible but I won't make it again.

Olive Chicken I

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2010
It is an excellent recipe, but that is a LOT of olives. I used a 10 oz bottle of green Spanish olives for a 5 lb chicken and it was still too much. Since my chicken was double the size, I doubled the water and that was too much. I salvaged the dish by using the remaining liquid (after the chicken finished stewing) to cook up couscous.

I loved this recipe even though I only used it for proportions. Skipped frozen vegetables and substituted sauteed mushrooms and onions plus fresh thyme.

Easy, but after I made them as written they came out somewhat crunchy. I think next time I'll try a different recipe.
