It was moist but the flavor wasn't outstanding. We didn't like the icing. I won't make again.

Friendship Soup Mix in a Jar

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2008
I haven't made this recipe in a long time but remember that I loved it!(I have too many cookbooks and recipes so I forget what I have until I come upon it) Will be making again very soon now that I found again! I gave as gifts to teachers and family and also made a batch for my family. Only changes~layer bouillon granules first on bottom of jar when giving as a gift. I used 1 pint of home canned tomatoes and 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce.

Sam's Famous Carrot Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2008
Delicious! I think it was best served after chilling in frig for several hours. I frosted with Cream Cheese Frosting II from this site. I baked in a 9x13 pan for about 35-40 minutes at 350. I added wheat germ and flax seed meal- maybe about 1 T each. 1 tsp cinnamon instead of 2. No raisins. I used 1/4 cup natural apple sauce and 1/2 cup oil. It is easy and so good!! Thank you for sharing your Grandfather's famous cake!

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2008
My family and I love these brownies! I have been making them for several years now. I definetly make them with unsalted butter-so rich! Not as good with margarine. Also, I definetly make the frosting- does need some milk. I use real butter in the frosting as well and I let the brownies cool first because I like my frosting to stay creamy. I always have to double recipe! LOVE EM!

Amazing Pecan Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2008
YUMMY!!!!! I loved it and I am thinking about making it again- just made it a few days ago. I used part sour cream, part buttermilk because I didn't have enough sour cream. I also used alittle less than 2 sticks of unsalted butter because that's all I had. and I mixed alittle wheat germ and flax seed meal to flour to make me feel like it was a tiny bit healthy! it was soooo good!!!

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2008
It was good and easy. I used mini chips- about 1 cup. and only 2/3 cup of the oil- probably could get away with only 1/2 cup.It was a good cake but not a "wow" cake.

Garlic Croutons

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2004
Very easy and great in our salad! I used half olive oil and half butter and added a sprinkle of parmesan and dill before I put them on the baking sheet. I only had whole wheat bread and it turned out great. I am going to try with sour dough next! Thanks !
