Slow Cooker Chicken with Mushroom Wine Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2005
This recipe had a wonderful flavor. My whole family loved it. I made the mistake of thinking this dish could serve as a whole meal. It definitely cannot. Next time, I think that I will make pasta to round out the entre.

Amazing Pork Tenderloin in the Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2005
My family loved this recipe. I must admit that I grew up not eating pork so the smell of the tenderloin cooking was a foreign and unpleasant smell to me, but none of my family complained. The meat was tender and flavorful and I will be making this for my family again.

Slow Cooker Tender and Yummy Round Steak

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2005
The steak was not very moist and tasted more like a bad pot roast. I don't think I will make this one again.

This recipe was greasy and more like a soup. I had great difficulty finding the correct peppers.

Shrimp and Crab Enchiladas

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2004
Outstanding! My husband and children raved and raved. I used 30 oz of grene chili enchilada sauce. I sauted the shrimp in garlic, olive oil and onions first as others have suggested. I also chopped the shrimp first in order to make the enchiladas more consistant. This recipe was amazing. Next time I think I will spray the baking dish with non-stick cooking spray first because I experience a bit of "stickage."

Fish in Foil

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2004
This recipe was ok. Nothing to rave about but not awful either. I used whiting fillets which may account for my ok rating. I cut the seeds and membranes from the jalapenos in order to control the spiciness for my children. I also used limes instead of lemons because they were all I had one hand. After cooking the fish, I thought it was a little bland so I added Creole seasoning on top. I must say the clean up was wonderfully easy however. I will probably try this again with a better whitefish and lemons.

Baked Orange Roughy Italian-Style

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2004
This fish was incredible flavorful and moist. I followed several suggestions in the reviews. I soaked the fish fillets in milk for about 30 min before I brushed them with butter. I also added lemon pepper to the bread crumb mixture. I made a topping of 2T mayo, 1/2 t garlic powder, 1/4 t italian seasoning. I topped the fish with the topping after it had been cooking for about 6 min. I served the fish over spaghetti tossed with garlic, olive oil, and italian seasoning. All of these additions only increased the flavor, but the recipe would have been wonderful even without them.

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2004
I did tweak this recipe per other suggestions in the review section. I used 3/4 cup red wine instead of water, four cloves of garlic, doubled the liquid, used extra onion, and season salt and pepper. It turned out wonderful! I also had the white chunks from the cream cheese at the end (I even softened the cream cheese first), but it certainly didn't affect the taste. Thank you for this outstanding recipe!

Chicken and Red Wine Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2004
I must say I was a bit skeptical about this recipe after reading the other reviews. I was worried about it being too sweet and purple chicken...It was to my surprise wonderful. The chicken did not turn purple and the recipe was definitely not too sweet. I used the amount of sugar and wine called for in the recipe. It was perfect. I think using a sweet red wine would make the chicken too sweet, but I used a merlot and it was amazing.

Glazed Meatloaf I

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2004
Meatloaf is either GREAT or AWFUL! Unfortunately most recipes are awful. This one is FANTASTIC! My husband wasn't all that excited about me making meatloaf, but he loved this. The glaze is to die for! I did triple the sauce in order to have extra for dipping. I used 1 cup bread crumbs instead of bread for ease. I did cut the brown sugar down to 3 Tablespoons (not tripling). I added 2 cloves of garlic and salt and pepper. I will make this often. My husband even ate leftovers the next day and he never does that.

Slow Cooker Taco Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2004
This was an ok recipe. It lacked some spice...not sure which or what but something. I am not sure if I will make this again because it is similar to the Chicken Tortilla Soup I that I found on this site, only the other is much better and not missing the extra flavor.
