Kielbasa and Cabbage

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2014
This was tasty but the caraway seed was overwhelming. If I make this again I would just put the caraway seed to taste. Also didn't use the bacon. The sausage taste was enough.

Fisherman's Catch Chowder

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2014
Had to make on the stove because I ran out of time. Did not seem to hurt the recipe. My boys loved it. I added a lot more tomatoes (since they only come in 28 oz can) so I doubled the other ingredients except for the salt and cream mixture. Since I added a handful or so of wild rice, it got pretty thick on it's own. Very hearty, especially with the wild rice. Served with the cheesy garlic bread (also on this site). Great cold weather meal.

Easy Cheesy Garlic Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2014
Very tasty. Loved the butter blend. I was tempted to use fresh garlic but thought the powder would spread better. Glad I did. I thought it did work better as a spread. Next time I will leave the foil open more to get the bread toastier. Great recipe.

Easy Cheesy Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2014
Fine as is. The oil didn't seem to hurt it. I added another can of tuna and milk since it was too thick without it. Also dried onions as I like that in my casseroles.

Spicy Pumpkin Chili

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2014
Very tasty. The pumpkin and spice gave it a nicely different taste. I didn't add any paste. I used a regular sized can of diced tomatoes and garlic, rather than a 4 oz can. I didn't think it was watery at all. Only thing I added was a small can of green chile peppers because I had them on hand. Skipped the salt as I thought between the canned beans and tomatoes it wouldn't need it. It didn't. Will make again.

Delish! I mixed a bit of half n half and some 2% milk just to make it my desired consistency. Rich and tasty.

There was something missing. Not sure what it was. Close but not what I was looking for.

Scalloped Potatoes II

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2014
I followed other suggestions to make them more flavorful. However, next time I will thin the sauce a bit more. Had to add more milk after I added the fact.

Chef John's Fried Green Tomatoes

Totally delish! Will definitely make again. Skipped the cornmeal since I didn't have any. Still soooo good. Took me back to the south.

Corn and Crab Bisque

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2014
Would not use both cayenne and Cajun seasoning again. Way too spicy and I like spicy! Also thin. Tasty just the same. Would adjust those issues if I make it again

Healthier Marinated Grilled Shrimp

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2014
This one is going to be one of our regular meals. I substituted chipolte powder for the cayenne pepper since I didn't have it and my husband doesn't really care for cayenne. Marinated it all day too the second time. So tasty.

Nutty Coconut Fish

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2014
I used chitpole pepper mustard because it was all I had but still was just the right amount of heat. Wasn't sure I'd like the nuts but it gave the breading a unique flavor. Will make again.

Basmati Rice

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2014
Really good. Let's the flavor of the rice shine through. I added more peas though since 1/4 cup didn't seem like enough. Also used ground cumin since I didn't have the seed.

Balsamic Grilled Zucchini

Not much flavor. I love zucchini but I'll stick with my tried and true garlic and oil. Sorry.

Delish!!! Just make sure you watch the steaming. That water evaporates very quickly!

Asian Coconut Rice

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2014
This rice was so moist. Had a nice subtle flavor. My family and I enjoyed it very much. I did add a splash of imitation coconut flavor as suggested by another reviewer. Will definitely make over and over. Thanks for the recipe!

Egg Salad with a Kick

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2014
I really liked the hot mustard idea. Unfortunately, I didn't have any so instead I added hot wing sauce. I also added fresh dill, cilantro and parsley because I had it. Replaced paprika with smoked because thought it would be more interesting. It was good but not as good as I'd hoped. Thanks for the recipe though.

Coconut Fish Curry

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2014
Didn't have any coconut milk so I used coconut water. Once it cooked off, I dredged my fish in egg and coated with coconut so I ended up with a crunchy crust instead of a sauce. Also added some cilantro with the tomato at the finish.

Butternut Squash, Apple, Onion Au Gratin

This was fabulous. I may use less broth next time as it was a bit wet just to save the broth but did not affect the presentation or taste.
